You will be paying for PS4 online gaming, just live Xbox Live. No WAY Sony ignores a way to make the PS4 profitable alot sooner than the PS3. MS started to break even alot sooner because of Live subscriptions.
Ps4. No Xbox exclusive titles have been amazing enough for me to validate my live account from a 360-720. Ps4 on the other hand looks amazing.
The Show, Uncharted, Infamous, Last of Us, Gran Turismo, Metal Gear, LittleBigplanet, God of War, Heavenly Sword Xbox has what, two? Halo and Gears of War
Just played halo 4 with my bro yesterday and I'm waiting for 5 so Xbox for me or maybe both. Live just seemed easier to deal with online and the fact I had 2 ps3 brick on me and had to pay out of pocket to fix doesn't really help.
more =/= better all the gears, l4d's, the first deadrising were better than all those. plus a ton of xbla games.. god of war is a button masher , so is heavenly sword. i dont **** with them shiits. only thing on that list worth a **** is metal gear..
I don't know. I'm got anything until at least a year after they come out so I can see what kinds of games each one has, and also give the companies time to fix the bugs that always come out in the initial release, or come out with models that have more storage etc. like they always do. From what I've read, I think I like the specs I've seen on the PS4 the best. But right now, I like the games and DLC on the Xbox 360 far more than the PS3. Skyrim is my favorite game, and the fact that PS4 DLC is an afterthought for Elder Scrolls games and quite possibly Fallout games as well that would make me lean towards the XBOX. Going back to the old XBOX games, I like their games better as well. But I'll wait for a good long while after the new systems are out in order to see the games and DLC that come out for each one. I'll also check for the reviews and see the known issues and benefits of each one. Then I'll make my decision.
They haven't. Some have assumed that since Sony has never charged for online play (with PS2, PSP, PS3, and PSV), that will continue with PS4, but that might not be the case. I would be somewhat surprised if they did charge for it though. I expect them to charge for a lot of things (sharing, game streaming, etc.), but I think they might still continue offering online play for free. Juggling a change like that while also offering the same kind of service(s) on PS3, PSV and even smartphone might be difficult (why are those platforms free, but PS4 isn't?). Or at least I'm hoping that. I do love some PS+ though. More or less touched on this in the above response, but I don't think it is 100%. I can see them doing it for this reason, but I can also see them deciding it is worth keeping it "free" for the value this gives the platform/services. And while technically true that Live helped MS break even sooner (any extra revenue, no matter how small, would help them break even sooner), I'd say other factors had a larger influence. I think the DLC battle will be closer next-gen than this generation. Actually, it has already gotten more heated this generation to some degree. Though it will depend on what game(s) you like (Bethesda/CoD/etc on Xbox, Assassin's Creed/Battlefield/etc. on PlayStation), but think it will be more evenly split. Bethesda may still decide to give preferential to the Xbox due to past history/deals, and possibly a larger install base on that platform. Of course, when you put out a broken game on PlayStation, I wouldn't expect much of an install base among those gamers. Hopefully with PS4, they can actually put out decent software on PlayStation. With 8GB of GDDR5 and an overall friendly dev environment, there's really no excuses for them. They'll have more competition from the Witcher guys this next generation (among others). Not a fan of DLC (I've yet to really order any DLC, and I certainly couldn't care less of about timed exclusive DLC), but it seems to be the new 3rd party exclusive. As for the topic in general, I agree that it is way too early to make any definitive assessments of either console. There's a ton we don't even know about the PS4, let alone the next Xbox (including important factors like overall price). PS4 will have the graphical/performance edge (theoretically), though I'm not sure how noticeable it will be. Both are using very similar hardware, which would lead to me to think there won't be much of a difference, though I admit some of the benchmarks between the PC GPU analogues for each system make me wonder (think I've seen 20-30 FPS difference in some games, which is pretty substantial). Given current-gen, I'd expect both to get roughly the same quantity and quality of games. PS4 has been getting a lot of indie love due to their new development approach and Microsoft's treatment of indies in the past, but I don't really think this will last long (indies will embrace both...or maybe neither). Each will have their exclusives, and you couldn't really go wrong with either (all this talk about one system or the other not having good games is ridiculous, especially coming from people who likely think something like COD is a good game). I think the services each will offer will probably be the "deciding" factor for a lot of people (along with pricing, but I kind of put the two together). For me personally, I'll probably get both. Sony's development studios already sell me on the PS4, and I like what I've seen so far (though I admit the lack of PS3 BC really hurts...but I could see PS1 and maybe PS2 emulation being offered at some point, maybe even early on). I'm leaning towards getting one at or near launch. They'll need to show me a little more, but I'm pretty excited about some of the features they've already shown. I expect the Xbox to probably be a little better with services (particularly TV services), and that will probably get me to buy one pretty early on as well. If they continue to charge to use these services, that might change my mind though (might just decide to go with a Google TV or something). I'm not crazy about the Kinect and some of the casual/non-gaming focus, but I'm sure there will be some cool stuff to play/do on the system.
Apparently Microsoft Studios' Creative Director, Adam Orth, had some choice words that have people talking. Spoiler Here was a convo between him and Manveer, a game designer at Bioware: Spoiler Spoiler He updated with this before locking his twitter account. Spoiler Original link and articles talking about it: http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=534951 http://www.nbcnews.com/technology/i...-always-online-xbox-critics-deal-it-1B9231940 http://www.ign.com/articles/2013/04/05/microsoft-creative-director-on-always-online-deal-with-it
according to a post on that forum you linked to, he's a nobody at the company--just has a title that seems interesting b/c of his previous jobs
One of the only good things to come out of all that was this:

Sorry, I couldn’t tweet earlier about @adam_orth’s comments about the XBOX always online rumors. My internet connection was down
— CEO Kaz Hirai (@KazHiraiCEO) April 5, 2013
(Yes, this is a parody account) And I still refuse to believe MS will make the console always-online...although these reports/rumors do sound pretty bad.
