Why would Morey want J. Smith or Millsap (who are both 35 min/game players) if they're so high on Three-Mo? I can't imagine they would want Three-Mo to only play 13 minutes per game or play out of position at C or SF.
You can play Josh Smith at the 3 some alongside D-Mo. In fact, I think Josh Smith would fit very well next to D-Mo for stretches.
Cyberx....any idea how high the Rockets would be willing to go on Smith's or Millsap's potential contract?
If I am not mistaken, revenue from international broadcasts and gear are split evenly amongst the teams
Smith and Millsap might not be worth the max but both are Morey's type of players. Both are extremely versatile and play multi-position. Smith is a top 10 defender for the last few years but he is a bargain if we can sign him at 40 million/3 years. Smith complements Asik perfectly, one a rebounding gobbler while Smith is great at shot blocking and help (team) defense. With Smith present, our defensive efficiency will become so much better. I estimate to be around 10th. Millsap is also a good defender but not as fearsome as Smith but Millsap is a better offensive player. Millsap is a just great all around player. If we can sign him for 30 million/3 years, it's also a bargain. Both are decent playmakers and passers and would fit well with out current team.
1. Of course. If another team ponies up the dough that Josh Smith thinks he's worth, then we get Millsap. If Millsap goes elsewhere, we bite the bullet and take Smith. 2. GOOD. McHale can't coach a team. He can teach, but he can't coach. 3. GOOD. Harden can't play damn near 40 mpg at a breakneck pace. See if we can get Redick. Then you can play those small-ball lineups you like, without the grotesque cost of an Eric Gordon. 4. We can't lose Dmo. Guy's gowanns to be good. 5. I only said this every other post for months. Pat would look for his $$$, no way he'd stay a Rocket. 6. TRob has talent, but even if he isn't worth his #5 draft standing, so what? We're fixing to get a quality PF in free agency anyway. 7. Clearly. Captain Obvious on this one. Cyberx, let me quote Marcellus Wallace on this one: "Is that my man Cyberx? My n****. Come here." (bro-hug) Rep. Are you PatPat's (former) neighbor or something? No more free pizzas and whatnot? Morey makes his mistakes, but PatPat had no future here. It's just Morey's thing. Don't overpay dudes. Save money for guys you want. TRob might not work out, but....so what? Trade him for draft picks, keep Dmo and maybe Tjones, sign JSmoove or Millsap with the cap space. Why all the fuss? Except for the temporary setback as we try to make the playoffs with a reconstituted lineup, it's all gonna be good.
Morey did an interview recently where he talked about this, and I think it is a very interesting question. The question is, can Donatus show enough this season to warrant not upgrading the 4 in the off-season? They definitely like Donatus, and bringing Milsap or Smith in would definitely hurt his development and long term status with the team, but can you justify not upgrading the position because Donatus might get better? Personally I think Donatus is going to be awesome, and that they should let him and the young guys develop, but it is a tough decision to make, and the future of this team and Morey's role on it heavily depends on it -- so, yeah, it is super interesting on what they decide to do. It is good they have almost a quarter of the season and the playoffs to evaluate Donatus and thus make an informed decision.
They would be crazy as hell to pay Josh Smith max money. Did you see him lose his damn mind shooting jumpers against Miami... And Milsap _ great...!!! A 6-8 power forward... He's going to be a great help going against the OKC and San Antonio bigs....Smh...
I call BS on your source just based on this statement. First of all, it would utterly r****ded of Morey to make Parsons an UNRESTRICTED free agent by turning down a player option. It would be stupid before the Boozer debacle. But after Boozer, not even a single clutchfans member would try this with Parsons. And second, the Rockets don't have full bird rights with Parsons since he's only in his second year. Hence, the Rockets need salary cap to re-up with him. Which means they wouldn't have room to sign Millsap or Smith with their FA money. They would have to pay Parsons with money using the cap room. If you did talk to a Rockets executive, then he's either lying to you, or he doesn't actually know jack squat about Morey's basketball operations aspect of the team.
Or like flipping Rafer Alston for Kyle Lowry. Or K-Mart, Lamb, and a pick for Harden. C'mon man we can do this all day.
I think it may be closer to expect. The Rockets want a four to spread the floor on offense. I think he fits everything else that they want in a four. He will be a good NBA player for a team that doesn't rely on spacing from the four as much as the Rockets. I thought he was a better shooter when he was at Kansas.
Meh, really, dude, give it a rest. Parsons is going to get PAID, but it will be a year from now or whenever they can legally PAY him. He didn't say RIGHT NOW. The team will keep Parsons and PAY HIM when the CBA says they can pay him. NOTHING in cyberx's post said "he's fixing to get paid this very-ass second, this summer in fact, yappity yappity yadda". Exactly. Some of you dudes are amazing. It's like you have an automatic "I call BS" function, you know, like "CTRL + BS". Hey, if cyberx made it up, we can all hunt him down, hmn? But people in an organization can be garrulous and not think their comments will get back to someone or get posted on the Internet. Other than the McHale comments, nothing untoward was revealed; and if McHale isn't aware that the organization isn't high on him, he'll soon find out. From McHale's p.o.v., "I'm trying to make the playoffs---you told me, make the playoffs---with what I got. You take away my best 4's and left me with two rooks. Hey, if you don't like it, let me go, it's been a good two years." From Morey's p.o.v., "OK. Bye. Good luck." McHale: "Will you give me a good reference when I get a coaching interview in the future?" Morey: "Uhhhh.....only if it's Sacramento. Hey, Kev, we have some nice parting gifts for you." McHale: "What's this? A Casio? Really? You're giving me a Casio?"
