amen, that's what I'm trying to convey to those reed lovers all along.. still thinking he's the best safety in the league. Usually you go wanna go with someone with more upside and younger, but the texans is going the opposite direction and trying to do the unconventional, unbelievable.

Wherever reed ends up, next season will likely be his last, and he's not any cheaper than gq, so i dont see the texans saving $ by not paying quin....

Oh really? Then why did Brady and Manning made it a point to always know where #20 was on the field when they played the Ravens?

And Ed Reed played in every game last year. Someone needs to call in and roast him.

Lance Z. was the same way yesterday. A little concerning because they both know football better than I do.

Koch's concern of his age, and the amount he signs for, is valid.

I like Greg Koch but he knows very little about football outside of the fact the played. Not talking about his X's and O's i'm talking about his knowledge of players. He thought the other "good" Raiders receiver last year (after DHB was cut) was Jacoby Ford. He's just an ex player that watches a little Sportscenter and goes in and talks football...don't put too much weight into his words.

Elite QB's never focused on where Quin was. They also didn't avoid throwing at him. Elite QBs worry about where Reed is at all times, and avoid throwing his way. It's a big deal. His swagger and leadership is also worlds better than Quin, and something the Texans need.

The metrics proved Quin and Reed were similar on field players anyway, but one gives the team edges in other areas(Reed), the other doesn't.

Yeah his concerns are valid to a point. Like I've said from the beginning, I really like Ed Reed but I think replacing Quin with Reed necessitates drafting a safety early.

But the level of negativity from Koch is over the top imo.

I think it's knee-jerk...the people on Twitter buying into the Texans going "all in" with a Reed signing were just silly yesterday.

Greg Koch needs to clear his throat or cough that phlegm out, dude has had that ever since he started at 790.

I like a different perspective so I don't mind it.

I do think Reed can still play but not at the level some of you guys think. He'll bring leadership and experience to the D from a player who has been to the Super Bowl. A good signing imo, but may pay a little too much.

At 34, lets just do a small deal please. I wouldn't mind his prescence at all (in fact I would greatly welcome it, with his toughness and veteran experience). I say maybe a 2 yr deal, maybe worth 10 million. Sounds good, no?

I think a lot of Reed's value comes from the respect other QB's pay him on the field, the chip on the shoulder attitude he will bring to the team, and the fact the team would have someone that has won big playoff games on the roster. He's not the same safety he was in his prime, but he's still good enough to impact games and all the intangibles are a nice bonus.

if he doesn't sign today, i'd say that's exactly what's going on here.

They did elect a new pope. Pope Jeremy I.

Lin's last day on the roster was this past Wednesday. PBev is next man up.

    Greg Koch on Ed Reed:

"He's old, slow and eating pudding before he goes to bed at 4pm"

I guess Ed Reed is the best choice after losing Quin but this a marginal upgrade at best. How about the Texans actually address some needs from the end of last season? They have yet do that. Yes they free up some money by giving up players but the FO put themselves in that position with bad cap management. Losing Quin and then adding past his prime Reed doesn't make this team significantly better from the team that left the field earlier this season. What about some real additions?
