The difference is that Lowry is good at basketball. Lowry didn't have a .90 ORtg before the trade (and .95 since then).

No lowry had a 26% 3 pt shot and 69% ft shot and 43% fg % with mediocre offensive stats...

and all the morons said he stinks wah wah wah...I remember arguments. What one area does lowry do better then alston.

My answer everything lol... just from the few games I saw.

So yes by the small sample size and being a bad situation lowry was a bad player by looking at espns stat line.

Wasnt till the next year he came on and everyone realized morey was a flippin genius.

Mediocre >>>>> terrible. Thomas Robinsin can only dream of having mediocre offensive stats.

I LOVE the trade, but did you seriously compare Patterson to Bowen? Patterson's rookie year was better than any year Bowen ever had.

Let's not hate on PatPat. Morey always trades guys he won't pay.

Parsons is the exception and Parsons will cash in next year.

Hopefully PatPat won't sour too quickly. That organization has so many problems. I wouldn't want to be stuck there----well, except for the typical, "I go 90 minutes that way, I'm in the Bay Area; and 90 minutes that way, I'm in Tahoe."

Even if this were true, who cares? Morey will trade him in the summer for draft picks he can use and sign Millsap or Josh Smith. Millsap's a better version of PatPat, so you'll be happy if we go that route.

    Right?

    Right?

    Bueller?

They will have cap room to sign Smith or Millsap without dumping any salary. Pat's trade value > Robinson's trade value come summer. By summer time, Robinson will be fully exposed as a bust. Will be worth 2nd round pick at best like Morris.

You've got to give something to get something.

exactly. this was a long term move. i thought patterson was underrated on this site also, but he is just a rotational player. i still have more regret over losing carl landry

Yes, it all comes down to TRob's development or at least perceived development for trade purposes. Will it surpass where PPat is now? CH says no. I don't see how he can be so sure.

Actually, Morey did say that Morris was traded with the mind to let DMo play. While Robinson trade was more unplanned. That said, it does seem like Morey floated Patterson's name to Sacramento in one of those obligatory deadline calls he always make, and unexpectedly Petrie responded with Robinson as bait. And Morey just couldn't resist the temptation.

So I guess the truth is somewhere in the middle. Morey didn't set out to trade Patterson. But he wasn't doing his best to keep him either.

He has mediocre offensive stats since playing for the rockets.

His FG% has increased as well since playing for the Rockets.

Why doesn't it make sense? When the Rockets were rumored to trade up for Drummond in the draft, I said I'd be okay with the move even if Drummond turn out to be a bust. As a fan, it's normal to accept the risk of a prospect failing when you also know there's probably of high upside.

If anything, to accept no risk in young players make no sense.

We would have let him walk for nothing after next season anyway, no way we match his RFA offer.

while this made me laugh...PFs typically progress more slowly in the transition to NBA.

lowrys first year were abysmal as well

.368 FG% , 5 points a game, 3 assists and 1.2 turnovers per game in almost the same amount of playing time as he had his first year in houston.

    STAHHHHHP IT.

This really has nothing to do with Patterson, or Dmo, or Trob anymore.

There is no reason for anyone to obsess about a move this insignificant. Right now, this is all about Carl's bruised ego. In his mind, he thinks he knows more than Morey.

A smart man is knowledgeable. The smarter man recognizes those who are even more knowledgeable than himself. Carl, start recognizing before you embarrass yourself even more.

Even if TRob won't be great, trade him for some combo of draft picks. Hell, use him to help get J.J. Redick. We'll come out ahead in the end anyway. That cap space this summer = TRob raised to the 4th power.

Patterson is what he is, a mediocre power forward. Once he becomes a free agent, it's either overpay to re-sign him or lose him for nothing. At least the Rockets have other young power forwards with potential AND cap room to sign top FAs.

Let's just wait and see if we make the playoffs or not. If we do, the trade was undoubtedly worth it; and if we don't, this trade is a big part of why.

I wouldn't say we're a lock; a two game lead is nothing especially when we still have games against them. If we beat Minnesota GS and Utah our next three, and win 1 of the next four vs the spurs, clippers Memphis and Indiana, I'd start feeling a lot more confident. The way we're playing though I don't see us winning the next three.
