Not surprising if it's true Morey probably values Smith as an all star level player due to his defensive contributions and Millsap as about the same level because he contributes in underrated ways and fares very well in advanced metrics.
TRob is a future trade chip, which makes sense because he is not the stretch 4 needed to play on Morey's offense.
They think it's unrealistic to get Dwight. Just that the team with his Bird right have such an advantage. Now that Dwight has shown signs of injury, that extra $ and extra year play a bigger role than they did last year. Didn't even bring up those guys. Sorry!
Wasn't really listening, but something about where he played Delfino in the end? I didn't watch the game so I have no idea. You guys know better than I do.
some follow up questions for you to clarify if you can -Smith vs Milsap, who do they like better and why -They hired McHale for his persona and leadership, not his X's and O's. Why change the tune?
I still hope D-Mo shows enough this season and into the playoffs that they view him as the ideal 4 for this team and not spend a ton of money and cap space on guys like Smith, Milsap or Howard. I hope they decide that they don't need to make any more huge overhauls for a while and let this team develop together finally. Just upgrade at the backup for the 2 and 5.
Don't believe one word of this. Parsons about to get paid? Orly? Have you read his current contract? He is signed for two more seasons after this. How is he about to get paid? You mean in 2015?
Strange-- Morey was the one enthusiastically saying that full time small ball is workable while the coaching staff (Sampson in a Zach Lowe article) expressed reservations about too much small ball saying that it should be your curve ball not the fastball. And the stats do support playing small. Maybe it is about these specific matchups in these games but the team really didn't have many options in these games. If DMo is getting confused on D, Delfino was the only choice (Robinson didnt join the team yet vs. WAS and was barely familiar with stuff vs. MIL, IIRC).
Parsons has a non-guaranteed deal. Rockets are about to show some good faith in the kid and redo. If not next, then the following. Parsons has brought up to them that he is most underpaid starter in the league and the Rockets are going to do the right thing. I DONT KNOW THE SPECIFICS. Don't ask, don't care either.
I thought they tried to sign Dragic back but couldn't reach an agreement becasue of the player option Dragic required. Lin was an afterthought? Also I'm more curious that what kind of marketing$ Lin brought to Houston? Do they sell more tickets now? More gears? More Sponors from Taiwan? What else?
