Not worried about losing Barwin at all. They can get a veteran for cheap or draft a guy to give what he did last year which was basically hustle and not much else.
Bye Barwin... <blockquote class="twitter-tweet"><p>OLB Connor Barwin close to reaching a deal with the Eagles, according to @<a href="https://twitter.com/caplannfl">caplannfl</a> & @<a href="https://twitter.com/jasonlacanfora">jasonlacanfora</a> <a href="https://twitter.com/search/%23Texans">#Texans</a></p>— Nick Scurfield (@NickScurfield) <a href="https://twitter.com/NickScurfield/status/312306627770466305">March 14, 2013</a></blockquote> <script async src="//platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script>
Watch Barwin become Babin part 2 on the Eagles if we let him go lol. Not exactly mad he's leaving though.
Prefer watching Barwin walk than spending money to keep him (instead of Quin). The Barwin/Cody crew gave the team personality...but that charm doesn't get a lot of love from me when the clowning around gets us letterjackets and blown opportunities to clench the top seed in December. On the flipside...I almost wonder if Rick Smith has fallen in love with the idea of getting comp picks every year or something.
Met Barwin at multiple concerts around town and he is a really nice guy. Great tasted in music. Gonna miss having the hipster jock in town but I don't think the team is going to.
Texans 2009 Draft Class Second Contract Status Cushing - TBD(2014) Barwin- 6y/36 mil Caldwell- TBD Quin- 5y/25 mil Hill- Out of league Casey- 3y/14.5 mil McCain- TBD Nolan- status unknown Impressive, so far.
NSIS, but I think it is impressive that so many players from 1 draft class get a second contract, considering the unpredictable career life of most players drafted.
Who cares if you guys think he's cool cause he's some hipster jock who wears deep V-necks and skinny jeans, listens to indie rock and rides a bike. All I care is what he does on the field. The fact is he wasnt producing, 3 sacks is pathetic. Hardly any qb hurries, hits. We won't miss him. Whitney Mercilus, in his limited spaps/time on the field was a much bigger factor than Barwin was the entire season.
Absolutely and that is why it is a shame they didn't see more playoff appearances. That was a hell of a draft, and I think the Texans teams from the past 4 seasons certainly had enough talent to make it to the playoffs more than twice. The Richard Smith/Frank Bush eras were not enjoyable times.
