This is the one going in place of the Rice Hotel, correct? Off of Main? I like it.

Two blocks away from work. Hope this doesn't cause any traffic congestion.

Don't hold your breath. But the building looks to be very nice.

No...Rice Hotel is an historic landmark. It's not coming down....

this is coming catty-cornered to it.

In fact, you can still see the Rice in the rendering in the OP

I didn't know a McDonald's used to be there but yes, across from Cafe Express. The block right next to the Flying Saucer.

no...it would be about the 5th tallest in town. Williams isn't the tallest in town, Chase is.

Yay, even more construction and more traffic! I go downtown, construction/traffic. My area going to I-10, construction EVERYWHERE, go to the Galleria area, construction everywhere. I cannot wait until they finish all of this up and start on the east side since I never venture over there.

There are already plans to extend shops, housing, light rail, etc. to the east of downtown.

I work out here on the East side, for now. It's dirty, dusty, it smells and there is nothing but fast food and lowered trucks everywhere. Not my style.

maybe if Houston had some sort of public transportation system, possibly a rail line that could help alleviate traffic where adding more lanes to roads/parking is just not feasible.

I'm sure Texx would support that.
