Not to mention that with Reed back there, you know QBs will automatically hesitate airing it out on us. He's a gambler, but he has the ability to get himself back in the play as well. Think about what Joseph and Jackson can do knowing that Ed freaking Reed is backing them up.

Gamble or not, aggression in coverage with someone like Reed can't be bad. Some of those interceptions (only one I can remember was against Cinci), he was moving to the spot before the QB was even looking that way.

As long as Reed doesn't bite on the play action passes, which I remember Glover doing at times. Don't know how much of a change Ed will be against the run, Wade liked to bring up the safeties to act as extra LBs at times.

I think we've lost that wrinkle with Quin's exit.

For me, the only silver lining in this is that he didn't go to an AFC rival. It wasn't a cheap contract to match, but I suspect we're going to miss him as much as we did Ryans last season. Maybe he wasn't "elite", but he was a strong, consistent cover guy that could shift all over the field. Not many DBs can give you that.

I hope they draft someone, because Reed isn't going to last much more than a year or two. He'll be a nice locker room guy - we need some help getting a championship mentality.

Reed's window aligns relatively closely with Johnson's and probably Schaub's. They have to reboot around Watt here pretty soon.

i doubt any baltimore fans will agree with you. Dont be delusional and confused reed when he's in his prime and where's he at now.... he wasnt playing any better than quin last year.

Probably one of those "research before you post" kind of statements. Reed was hurt, but he's still way above average hurt and he plays through pain like every other NFL player that plays. Ed Reed is known for being on the field and don't miss many games.

You can't replace that kind of leadership that Reed brings, especially to a young defensive core filled with talent. He would be perfect!

If it was not for Ed Reed last year, the Baltimore defense would have collapsed the second Webb got injured. We torched their secondary in our lone meeting and 90% of it was going away from Reed.

Ed Reed where he is at now paired up with a unwanted subpar cover safety to be a key part of a Superbowl defense...There is a reason he is considered one of the best safety's in NFL history, and he had a timely interception in the big game only a month ago. To me he is still great. Can't wait till the Texans make it official. Having D-Man has his co - safety is only going to help.
