Baltimore is doing their best impression of the Florida Marlins. They did give Flacco a big deal so it's not a perfect analogy, but they got their trophy and now the team is essentially being broken up.

Well he struggles with injuries all the time now. Part of his age. He is perpetually dinged up.

I love signing him as he is one of my favorite players in the league, but you HAVE to draft a safety to play behind him that is going to better than Demps/Keo. Chances are that Reed will play less snaps than a starter should and will miss a game or two.

I definitely wouldn't target a safety this year if we got Reed unless a great prospect was available in round 4. We have bigger issues. If we're signing him we're inheriting an injury risk, we'll have to stomach it and trudge forward. We need to draft starters the first two rounds and a potential starter in the 3rd.

The team hit maximum potential last season as constructed with veterans. A smart GM notices that and move quickly to rebuild instead of maintain.

You needed another defensive back in this draft even if you kept Quin. When you went into dime packages (which happened a lot) you were getting killed because you had Demps/Keo on the field. That Ed Reed is old and gets hurt only makes the need greater.

Reed has not missed a game in the past 2 seasons.

But he has played hurt in quite a few and was a "game time decision" or "questionable" multiple times.

I love Ed Reed. Just make sure we have a competent player behind him so that Keo isn't getting major snaps.

He also played more snaps than Quin last season.

I'm sure we'll end up drafting his back up as a contingency plan if he were to get hurt for an extended period of time.

There are a lot of good safeties in the draft this year.

So? Please don't misunderstand me and think that I don't want Ed Reed. I love Ed Reed and absolutely want him over Glover Quin.

Glover Quin is a solid player but he's not an impact player or a playmaker. Ed Reed is both of those.

Would love to get Mathieu out of LSU. He would be a perfect fit for the Texans. Return man and can come in to cover slot or come in during dime situations if they have a better slot guy in year 1.

I think both the Texans and Ed Reed have to be honest with each other. Texans want him for the player he is now, not what he once was and milk the last amount of good football he's got left... and Ed Reed wants to stay in the NFL playing for a contending team.

(that line totally taken from the movie version of Moneyball).

I would probably prefer Reid out of LSU.

Kenny Vaccaro would also be a nice nab in the first round, if there aren't any good LBs left at the end of the 1st. Good special teamer also.

That's one thing that gets overlooked on this team... that the defense really did not have any coaches "on the field" once Cushing went out (and even then, not sure how "cerebral" Cushing is). Part of the blame for not "reacting" to the Pats hurry up is definitely on the coaches, but the players need to be aware of what's going on as well.

Ray Lewis and Ed Reed recognize offensive sets with the best of them. Part of what made them so successful against the Patriots.

That's cool but this can't be the only move. Must resign Connor and draft a DT to fix the defense
