The Chronicle is reporting that the Texans never made a offer to Quinn? How could you not make a offer to your top FA?? What the hell are they doing ???
As Glover Quin spoke with media in Detroit talking about his new five-year contract, I was on the phone with his agent, Michael Hoffman, who provided a bit of odd news. “Texans never made an offer on Glover Quin,” Hoffman said. “We talked preliminary numbers at the combine, conceptually we talked about numbers but they never made an official offer.” Hoffman said Houston wasn’t a contender for Quin today
A reporter for the Baltimore Sun says the Texans have been on Ed Reed since the start of Free Agency. I think Ed Reed is their Plan A

The Texans have been involved and in on Ed Reed since the start of free agency, notsudden development, per sources
— Aaron Wilson (@RavensInsider) March 14, 2013

Texans have made an extremely strong bid to woo Ed Reed. They didn't want to commit to a long contract with Quin, when they have other players (Cushing, Watt) that they are going to have to pay a lot of money for down the line.
You're getting really annoying with this. The subject was talked about all day yesterday in the Free Agents thread and now that you stumbled upon the links and quotes you feel like you need to make a new thread concerning him? I know you just want to b**** about what they haven't done but calm tf down. Quinn is nothing compared to Reed even at the age of 34.
WTF to you, but business-wise it makes sense. You couldn't put this in the "Glover is Over" thread?WTF Merge.
The Texans clearly have a plan...its not like they were busy doing other things and forgot to offer Glover a contract.
Normally, I'm not a stickler for being a "thread police"... but why the hell does this deserve its own discussion? Could it have not gone in the dedicated Glover Quinn thread? or the FA thread? or the off-season thread?
I don't understand why people on this board getting upset over Quinn leaving, the guys is an average S at his best, he has shown some flashes every once in a while but other than that average at his best, glad we didn't commit to a long term deal with him.
Maybe we didn't want to overpay, but it is still tough to lose him. Our starting lineup will likely have a lot of rookies if we don't do something.
I'm completely down with going hard after Ed Reed, and letting Glover walk for that kind of money. And as others have stated, this is OLD news from YESTERDAY. Absolutely didn't need it's own thread, and certainly didn't need the kind of vitriol you're bringing this morning.
Not surprising... They talked conceptually, Quin let them know what he is looking for, Texans realized they weren't going to offer him nearly that much, they didnt want to insult him with a lowball offer after the good years he put in for us. That's all there is to it really.
I agree! If the Texans didn't make an offer it's because they decided to go another route. Hope they land a big fish! ............. ............. .............
Really Ed Reed at 34 is so much better than Quinn Yea age aint nothing but a number. I reade that Quinn was in 97% of all our Def plays. How many games a year had Ed missed???
Over the last 2 seasons, ZERO. And for someone that you love apparently so much, you'd think you'd spell his name right. It's QUIN. And Ed Reed at 34 blows Glover out of the water. His coverage skills are still elite, and his ability to diagnose a play and provide veteran leadership in the playoffs will be priceless. Glover Quin is NOT worth this much hatred from you. This is great move if the Texans can get it done.
The only issue with Reed is that he's a gambler on defense. That results in big plays, but for a team that has trouble keeping up with receivers you just really need Reed to back them up.
