Just watched the game and I saw it. Dirty for sure. He literally went all the way under him while Kobe was in the air.
I watched it too. Even after watching these replays, I'm not convinced there is enough there to call it intentional. The defender is contesting the shot by jumping toward him...you can't just assume he can or even should stop on a dime after jumping to defend the shot.
Another angle. He walks right into him. Cant defend Jones one bit <iframe width="420" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/ihq0xxIlkaU" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
<iframe width="560" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/58LUFG0u_1w" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>"] Heres Kobe talking about the incident
Kobe said he got "Jalen Rosed" referring to the time when Rose did it to him back in 2000. Jalen Rose to his credit admitted hat he did it on purpose because it was the finals. Said all NBA players know he unspoken rule to give enough space for players to land.
Kobe had it coming since he routinely gets away with dirty plays (elbowing Artest in the throat, kicking battier in the head)
you know after watching it a few times, i feel like they just met halfway. kobe extended his leg a bit much, but not so much as a kick. jones was under kobe due to his momentum from closing him out. but importantly, i dont think jones intentionally undercut kobe
Good thing that was the end of the 4th quarter. MWP would've elbowed that guy and taken him out if it was the start of the 4th quarter. I've seen him do it for less.
Not to derail but bowen still maintains that these aren't intentional. <iframe width="420" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/KubRIzcLIA4" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> or this. <iframe width="420" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/RmI4r1XviVI" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> I could care less about either jones or kobe, but Bowen is a lying piece of trash that adds to the peanut gallery when ESPN goes into full drive the drama mode.
Kobe turned and shoot a fadeaway off balance jumper while kicking his leg. Jones raised his arm and leaned forward to contest the shot. Should Jones move his leg forward to kobe, he will fall on kobe and referee will possible whistle a foul. In the process, Jones bumped Kobe and an off balanced Kobe fell awkwardly, his ankle landed on the court and twisted it. Foul? No. As Jones bumped Kobe the ball already left kobe's hand. Dirty? No. Jones contested the shot. He moved forward to kobe to maintain his balance. He turned to check did kobe hit the shot or not. Dangerous? Yes. But in a dying moment like this, most players will contest the shot the way Jones did.
You must be one annoying **** to play against if you play like him. He completely moved his body under Kobe's. He didn't have to step right underneath him, he could've kept his hands up and when the ball was cleanly out of his hands he could've just stopped but instead he choose to keep going and run right under him. And yeah "it was in real time". He did that dirty move in real time.
Man people are letting their hate for the Lakers and Kobe to turn them irrational. What he did was so dangerous.
