The current health care system isn't sustainable. It should be destroyed. Even the single payer people on this forum believe the current health care system needs to be destroyed.

    k. Seems to work fine for food stamps.

Really all he wants is to make it solvent and make sure Americans have choices/freedom. Though the exact food stamp model wouldn't fit for Medicare something similar would.

Single payer solution is the best. Rich people still would have the option to get better care either way, it's for the good of the overall population.

Quote is taken out of context. He's being pressed on why he continues to push for a repeal of Obamacare which he says will destroy the health care system. He's saying he won't give up on repealing what he believes will destroy the health care system.

People jump on stupid sound bites like these, and than wonder why debates or campaign speeches can be so vacuous and void of content on times.

What does the Ryan model do to curb costs? Without that, Americans don't have choices/freedom regardless - instead of having a bankrupt Medicare, they would just either be bankrupt or without insurance. I guess that's technically a choice, but not sure that's what anyone has in mind.

It's actually a lot more substantive and less disingenous with respect to his intent than most of Ryan's ludicrous budget babble which is far more vacuous.

Come on Sam, he has an undergraduate degree in economics and worked in a health club prior to being a politician..... the guy clearly understand complex budget issues.

It doesn't do anything to curb costs, he just relies on smoke and mirrors and "common sense".

I will give him this, he was the only one in his party to even attempt to provide any alternative plan, even though it has no possible way of working.

Spare me your platitudes. A voucher system wouldn't help the 1% any more than anyone else.

This is true. But it would hurt the bottom 50% far more than anything else.

But it would screw the other 99%.
