Assessment of a player is much easier, just look the numbers.

But for a GM or a coach, not so simple.

So McHale is better than one of the worst coach in NBA history (which he picked), and better than one of the worst GMs in NBA history.

You can find a non-Bleacher report on everything McHale did as GM and coach there, as well, you know. Facts will always be facts.

In fact, you can find a Bleacher report that says James Harden is a top 3 SG this year. And would that be bull**** also?

Just realized this thread is actually attacking Morey and Les Alexander, not McHale. Lots of people have good/bad resumes; the question is, are the Rockets gonna hire them as coach.

OP is asserting the stupidity of Morey and Alexander for hiring a guy with such a resume.

Have we as Rockets fans sunk so low?

We actually applaud this type of record.

Ok here comes the obligatory "one of the youngest teams" excuses.

I'm not sure what the coaching thing is about, since I was talking about his GM tenure. Maybe you're trying to respond to someone else?

As a GM, McHale racked up slightly better than 50% win mark in 13 years. 1 WC finals, 8 playoffs. I'm quite sure that beyond Khan, there are many, many GMs who don't have nearly the success that McHale had.

Some of us Rockets fans actually have historical perspective.

Here is Rick Adelman's attempt at coaching a team that was transitioning from a perennial playoff contender to rebuilding via young players:

    1995-96 GSW 36 46 .439
    1996-97 GSW 30 52 .366

    Here is Rudy's:

    2001–02 HOU 28 54 .341
    2002–03 HOU 43 39 .524
