Avoid liberals like the plague, they're evil. Wait, you're going to SXSW in Austin? You? Recommendation is to not go- too many liberals, plus Ted Nugent and Hank Williams Jr. won't be there- you may have a meltdown before the first band even hits the stage.
free stuff only for me. this is my 4th year w/out a wristband after getting one for just about all of them since 1995. the "official" festival just got too demoralizing. its not impossible to get into most high-profile shows, but you really have to work for it (ie: be willing to get there super early and/or wait in line). i know im missing out on some good stuff by not having a wristband, but the pay-off just isnt worth it for me anymore (im old). ill be seeing these and many more for free! camper van beethoven! this video just oozes 80's! still listen to our beloved revolutionary sweetheart and also key lime pie quite a bit. <iframe width="420" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/51PP8TwXrxE" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> terakaft! malawian desert-blues <iframe width="420" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/cI5dD3TwVnU" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> cafe tacuba! mexico city's answer to radiohead, flaming lips and/or the cure. <iframe width="420" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/NlMPek0Ms1o" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
Saw the Jim James performance at Empire last night, pretty freakin awesome. Also got to see Guards who opened for Jim and they put on a good show too. Don't miss Jim James if you get a chance to see him!
It was free to get in, I took my oldest son on friday and Monday. You can also still get a room, just not one downtown. DD
i was there eearlier in the night, saw Carrie Elkin & ZZ Ward. my taste runs more to the former, but both were excellent. crazy small room, and very hot.
Yeah I went early had a few drinks and left to check out Best Coast. Came back right after ZZ ward, it was hot in there earlier but me and my friend made our way up to the front and to the right, next to the "VIP/Artist" outside area with the open door so it was nice and cool right there. I can not restate how awesome Jim James was, if you are a fan of MMJ you have to check out his set. He plays Hype Hotel tonight for anyone interested.
funny; i tripped over zz ward earlier in the evening coming out of the musicians' lounge tent in the back- had no idea who she was, just some chick in a hat. enjoyed her set tho.
Second year in a row seeing Delhi2Dublin live at Copa Bar & Grill - 1am show start. Work in the morning? Pshhh! One of the most fun live groups at SXSW for me! <object width="560" height="315"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/pM3WyqKjG4M?hl=en_US&version=3"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/pM3WyqKjG4M?hl=en_US&version=3" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" width="560" height="315" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true"></embed></object>
