The server issues are getting better now.
I can now play for more than an hour at a time.

I've been playing on NA West 4...with barely any issues this past weekend.

Help me find the addicting part of the game. I feel like that there isn't very much to do and I can't be very creative with it either. Maybe I am missing something.

I also get pissed when I want to add on to a school or something and run out of room because of a street. So I go to bulldoze the street and it tells me I have to bulldoze the school too....even when there are streets still connected to the school. It's so annoying.

I would buy this game is EA games guarantee that, when the servers eventually shut down or switch for another game, then they will release a patch to allow single player.

In the EU you can return the game if you bought it online. In America you can't return it if you bought it online.

lol. Nobody'd make a game, then. So much of the crap that come out of design studios are... well.... crap. When you think about it, how many truly "great" games come out each year in comparison to the number of average-to-dud games?

EU's consumer protection laws are better than the US's.

Sounds like it is more than just the servers that are broken for this game:
http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=523158 (various links in that thread, so just posting that as a link)
    <iframe width="560" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/g418BSF6XBQ" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

    More:
I believe I also read that most of the game code (excluding things like audio I think) are running on a single thread. A 2013 (CPU intensive) game not really taking advantage of CPUs with multiple cores/threads. Awesome.

I'm glad I didn't really follow this game for some reason. It sounds horribly designed, horrible rushed, and horribly launched. And just horrible.

Someone steal the curve roads mechanic to a better citybuilder because that's the only thing I really want from this game.

You just don't get the bang for your buck you used to in southeast Asian programming sweatshops. Sad.

Well it looks like you don't need jobs for citizens apparently.

In other news, it looks like the game has been cracked for offline play already.

Just wanted to post that again for reference.

This game is such a mess, though the videos showing how busted/unplayable it is are pretty funny (also shows how horrible some game reviewers are...*cough*...Polygon...*cough*).

I think the popular rumor is that this might have been a Facebook game at one point...which probably would make the most sense.

It's been cracked? I don't see any indication of that anywhere...

I feel like an idiot for buying this game and I'm sure tons of others feel that way too. I'm certainly never buying another EA game. If I could get a refund I might feel different but they clearly don't give a damn about the customer.

Don't think anyone should feel like an idiot. EA, at best, were misleading about what they were selling and put out an unfinished game. At worst, they were outright lying about the product. Game reviewers did what game reviewers do best, promoting the game without really playing it (or caring much in general). I didn't really follow the game too closely, but I might have be on-board (or close to it) if I wasn't busy with other stuff. I remember being pretty excited about the early looks for the game. The always-online stuff bothered me I admit, but I assumed it wouldn't be THIS bad (and even if it was, I assumed the game itself would be OK).

Gamers might have to be wary of who they trust I guess. EA is definitely a company that is distrusted by gamers (even before this mess). I might still buy an EA game (particularly from one of their more "respected" developers...though I swear I'd put Maxis in this category before this mess), but it will take a lot to earn my trust. EA certainly haven't been able to do a good job with that in recent years (lost me with Mass Effect, Dragon Age, etc.).
