Yes. I couldn't think of anything at the time and was about to go to work. So there. Never was a fan of Kenyon Martin nor Kevin Martin. Never thought my alias could become such a pain.

Just want to get the point across. Max players is max players, they do not care if they get an extra million or not. What they want is not more money (in term of few percentage), they want a champion and maybe get into the hall of frame.

Miami able to work out a deal with get 3 max players partly because of Pat Reiley. He has a system that win championship.

No they don't. Lebron, Bosh and Dwade all took discounts to fit them all under the max, they're making 14-16M a year, right around the new max rates.

Do the math, you have 60M capspace. You get 3 guys at 14M each that leaves 18M left for 12 players, or 1.5M each (remember vet min is 3M). Yeah that would work

He was a 6th man there

Don't forget he co-existed with Duran and Westbrook as the 6th man there and he did a good job as the 6th man, not the ball dominant role in Houston now. Those 2 superstars in OKC did take away Harden's dominance and points. ;)

Lol I laugh at all these Lin haters...its the same type of people back in the days who said Jeremy Lin was too short for basketball, not athletic enough, would there be this much talk about an 8 mil PG if he wasn't Asian? Probably nobody would care or even write this thread. Everyone should be grateful not that you have Lin, the Asian superstar in the NBA but the fact they Lin WANTs more then anything for the team to do well vs his own career. He would rather take a charge and play defense then continuously try to score 30 ppg every night. As a person and as a player he's someone people look up to and I think any team would be greatly improved with someone like Lin to play hard and continuously improve their game. The improvements I've seen him from Linsanity to this year have been outstanding. His potential is an all star and a role model for so many kids in this world so they won't be hating trolls like the lots in the forum. Keep dreaming someone like CP3 will join the Rockets when the Clips are a beast team with athleticism like the heat.

    only in the dream

So many biggest names in NBA now in that roster of yours. LOL. We don't have the money for max contract for all positions. This is a starting all star roster (perhaps except Gordon), and no team in NBA can afford that, not LA, Boston, NY, Chicago, and definitely not Houston.

It's not impossible, even if your top-3 guys make $50mil combined. You just have to game the cap system with sign&trades.

For example -- and obviously this isn't likely at all -- but you could clear more than enough room to sign Howard to the max (~$20M) by trading Lin for to a team in need of a PG for cap space (+ whatever draft considerations you may be able to pry away).
You then could sign&trade Asik and whatever else it may (T. Jones/T-Rob) take for Josh Smith at max figures (~$16.5M) or less; preferably decreasing from year to year.
Round out the roster by (sign&)trading T-Rob or T. Jones for a useful center (e.g. Mozgov), while dumping White in the process.

Voila, a perennial contender at ~$67M

    Howard $20 Mozgov $3.5 [MIN]
    JSmith $16 Motiejunas $1.5 [MIN]
    Parsons $1 Delfino $3 [MIN]
    Harden $14 J.Anderson $1 [MIN]
    Beverley $1 Brooks $2.5 [MIN]

Lin isn't better than CP3 or Dwight Howard so that's all that matters. If you can get any of those player you do it and Lin can go become the greatest player since Michael Jordan for some other team. YOUR WELCOME.

i love the idea of trading lin and asik after signing dwight. lin is obsolete since we got harden, and asik will be obsolete after signing dwight. better yet, if dwight agrees to sign flat out, offer the lakers lin in a S&T deal so they don't lose dwight for nothing, and they dont have to rely on a 40yo nash to play big minutes.

Dwight also gets his bird rights traded to houston and makes more money. lakers and dwight benefit, but so do the rockets by freeing up half of the money josh smith would want. Next would be to make a S&T offer for smith.

offer asik, the hawks say yes and move horford to PF where they've wanted him for years. smith says yes to joining dwight harden and parsons. if the rockets can trade white and jones with their draft picks for cap space, they get under the cap by a couple million more, just enough to maybe sign a good 3&D point guard to complete the starting 5 and stay under the LT.

If the clippers make it to the WCF, no way Chris Paul leaves. Paul-Howard-Hardin is definitely a scary and powerful big 3, but can't see someone who just took an L.A. team to the WCF leaving that kind of spotlight.

I agree, but by the time Nash and Kobe retire Lin will be like 27-28 and he would have to squander his talents those 3 years off the bench. Even if Nash retires early, Lin would still have to play alongside Kobe, which would be pretty much the same situation as here with Harden.

Even with a coach that doesnt really know what hes doing at times, this team has surpassed expectations and will at least be competitive in the West by itself. Add in a couple of proven solid role players or a superstar at the 4 and you would become contenders. I dont thinl we need DH12 or CP3

CP3 is not going anywhere. The guy is captain/player/behind the scenes GM of the Clippers. Offseason acquisitions like signing Matt Barnes happened because of him pulling strings. Few weeks CP3 tried to orchestrate a trade to bring Garnett in for Bledsoe/DeAndre and it would've gone through if Garnett had agreed. The guy has more power than any player in the league right now and he's used it to transform the team from a joke into contenders.

He's not gonna give up all this power and defer to Morey.

And the only way Dwight goes to Houston is if he and Kobe have a falling out before the end of the season. Before the all-star break, this looked like it might happen because they were calling each other out and player meetings, but after the break, they're getting along and learning from each other and the Lakers are now back in the playoff race.
