That was ball to arm. I am proud of the way United handled themselves against one of the favourites in the CL. Red card was definitely the turning point of the game, and Nani does not deserve to be sent off since he was looking at the ball the whole way through. I can point out that RVP and Welbeck's chances over the two legs has come back to haunt us but the red card was a bigger impact on the flow of the game. BTW, its not easy to make changes that will impact the game when you're down a man, no matter how good the team is.
1. If you think he didn't intentional have his arm up there in that unnatural position then you are helpless. 2. Rio Ferdinand is a class act... I mean we are all fans but c'mon be real people.
For someone who says he doesn't like or dislike either team you're certainly putting on a spectacle in this thread. Quit being such an @sshole.
Lol wow. Where do I begin? I as well do not like when Ignorant fans deflect while putting on blinders and pretending they aren't partial in one way or another to one of two teams on the pitch. Fact is: There was NO NANI challenge. Not sure what the heck you wrote but Nani didn't tackle or challenge anyone for the ball. Why would "anybody" as you put it, bring up something that makes no sense like what you pointed out? It wasn't a 50-50 challenge or anything similar. He put his foot up to retrieve the ball without looking to see if there was a player near him. Unfortunately for him he caught Arbeloa in the chest. A yellow card offense? Without a doubt. Absolutely. A red card offense? No and that seems to be the viewpoint of most neutral observers whether they like United or not. Now if you want to state that United have calls go their way sometimes that they don't deserve then fair play. But to act like the call was without a doubt the right call? Yeah..ok. Fact is: Sergio Ramos could have also received a red card and a penalty given to United for his handball on Welbeck's shot in the 2nd half. What's that? Ball to hand I say? Hmm sorta like Rafael's that you chose to mention? I don't seem to be mad at the ref for that...hmmm. Fact is: To my knowledge the score sheet over the 180+mins you seem to be keen on bringing up, sure seems to show United put forth(scored) two goals in that time span. Whether it be an own goal or not, it's a goal. If you can't get that and you want to harp on who scored said goal then do your thing chief. Fact is: Fergie's tactics in both legs were spot on. Not sure where you're finding fault with his tactics or what pundit you've heard from that has found fault with it but I have heard no such complaints. His team selection today raised some eyebrows but it went well and even down to 10 players his team selection and tactics didn't seem to hamper his teams efforts to retrieve the ball and create scoring opportunities. Just a tad bit more difficult for any team to do when down to 10 players. Fact is: You must be new to the concept of professional soccer players going up to refs during matches AND after matches to berate the refs about certain decisions. Unfortunately it's not a savoury part of the game in terms of respecting the ref but it is Soccer and not Rugby and if you watch both then you'd know that one comes across as a game for hooligans yet played by gentlemen and the other doesn't. If you need further video evidence of players berating refs, I'd suggest going on youtube and doing a quick search. From Didier Drogba having a go at Tom Henning Ovrebo to Thierry Henry having a go at Graham Poll about a decade ago after Arsenal lost to Newcastle. You'll also be able to find a number of videos of Madrid players over the years having a go at refs. That's Soccer, that's Futbol. That's how the game go! Kind of like the call the ref made today. Unfortunately for United, "that's how the game go"! If you think Rio should be suspended for clapping at the referee/in his face(not even technically having a go) then I've got nothing else to say to you. Rio is a douchebag for sarcastically clapping in the refs face??? Good day.
'atta boy!!! can't argue with the big boys, resort to name calling... it's no wonder you are a manu fan.
I cheer for Real... Or maybe you were talking about Ginobili? Regardless, I wouldn't get too high and mighty. I at least called you what you were. You acted like a jerk and hid behind some silly self-created code when called out for it.
That was a fair red card on Nani. He had his boots up high. He went for the ball recklessly. I see no problem with the decision.
Finally some unbiased and objective commentary. It just kills me that some people on here think intent is required for a red card. Dangerous play does not require intent. I also think the Red was harsh but understandable when considering the referees judgement. Football (soccer) is no different than an Umpire's strike zone, or a holding penalty, pass interference, etc..., in the NFL. Don't let the ref make that call.
Barcelona needing 3 to win by goals to advance. Or maybe another late minute meltdown like last year?
Lol the Milan keeper abbiati looks scared as **** right now. He knows his team is about to get fukked
This comment is exactly the reason why I want Barca to lose. Such arrogant fans, you need to come down to earth.
