Asik > Luc Longley Luc Longley=championship center ergo Asik > champaionship center  I would love to Keep Asik and upgrade the PF position. Lin (CP3 !) Harden Asik Stud PF Parsons Star 6th man I think we have a contender
Morey won't hesitate to go after Paul if he thinks he can get him, but I don't see Paul or Dwight leaving LA. Stars don't grow on trees. Morey got one, but it's unlikely that getting the second will be as easy as getting the first.
I'd rather have Splitter, who is an awesome 2way player. Lopez had a great season in NO as well. You can't win championship with one way player as core today, unless the other positions are exceptional strong. Asik's rebounding number has a lot to do with our fastest pace in NBA, weak rebounding presense at 4, and the fact that he get a couple more offensive rebs off his own misses around the rim every game.
Love also has a very high bball IQ not to mention he is a very good passer. Love on this team would make us top 5. Replacing Asik would not be that difficult. Love's rebounding is equal if not better. If you have a chance to trade for Love, you DO IT. No question.
Dallas one it in 2011 with Tyson Chandler, whose a great defensive presence, but isn't exactly an offensive threat.
Someone will offer Pekovic a massive, close to max deal and I am not so sure Minnesota will be able to keep him.
Of course you can win a title with Asik at C. Just like you can win a title with Lin ant PG or Parsons at SF. They just need the right supporting cast. But you can also upgrade the C position, the PG position or the SF position. E question is, where can you get the biggest upgrade. Howard might be available and he would be a huge upgrade over Asik (same rebounder, better hands, better help defender, better finisher) - so if you can get him you do so. CP3 might be available (I doubt it) and of course you would do anything to get him. When we get a legit second star and keep most of our core 4 we should at least be in the contender conversation.
I don't think it's any secret we are weak at PG and PF, we need some upgrades in both position, PF more-so then PG
Him alone is not enough. Need a scoring threat pf if rockets are going to bank on asik. Perimeter scoring can only take you so far.
Asik value would increase tenfold if he could just catch. we need to reach otu to Andre Johnson. I'm happy and contempt with Asik if he could just catch the ball.
A lot of people here forget that this is the first year Asik started in the NBA. There is no reason to think that he can't improve on his weaknesses. I think Omer is our guy going forward. I personally don't like that cry baby of a player in Dwight Howard.
Okc? Between Ibaka and Perkins they average around 20. Asik and Patterson definitely broke that. That's irrelevant now that Paterson is gone though.
Loving the idea of Love but (asik+parsons) idk we lose a lot defensively. Find a way to keep parsons. None the less I don't mind the idea of seeing where Asik ceiling really is. Upgrades do in fact have to be made. I'm sure the Rockets organization will figure it out. They always over achieve when most have us in the bottom. Mediocre this mediocrity that but they're always competing.
While I almost agree with everything you said about Asik, I think there is something intrinsically wrong with the title of this thread. If we have only Asik at the center, we could miss the playoffs, let alone winning a title. What I mean is we also need a good back up center, if we don't want to talk about the weakness at the PF position now.
If you really think we're going to the WCF with our core 4 guys not even at their peak yet, why would you wana mess with that. Keep it how it is even with Jeremy then
