I'm a little concerned. Wade Phillips has historically placed little emphasis on secondary, with a philosophy that front 7 pressure takes care of everything. Just like Kubiak came in not wanting high priced RBs for his system, Wade might (might) be telling the front office that he can cycle in whomever at safety and not miss a beat.

I hope that's not the case. Last season showed the historical flaw in his scheme (too many men forward exposing a thin zone coverage to 3- or 4-wide sets). Quin is indispensable. You just don't come across versatile, sharp, low-mistake DBs like him often. I know he came out of the 4th rd, but you're playing terrible odds if you think you'll nab another guy like him after Day 1 this year. Bringing over a lame replacement like Sensabaugh (he knows the system!) would be just as bad as replacing Demaco with Bradie James.

Here's hoping they get something worked out this week. I suspect Quin won't last long at all on the open market, and someone will frontload a nice deal for him that the Texans can't match.

What was Phillips emphasizing when the team signed JJo and Manning? Or traded up for Harris? While with Dallas, the Cowboys signed Terrance Newman to a large extension, placed the franchise tag on Ken Hamlin, and traded up to draft Mike Jenkins in the first round. Heck, they even dealt a 4 for Pacman Jones, a low-risk, high-reward gamble.

There's virtually nothing in Wade Phillips' most recent history to suggest he places little emphasis on the secondary.

He does allow Harris into the stadium on gamedays.

It was awful to watch Wade not knowing what to do with Demps or Keo at the end of the season. It seemed like every week he flipped a coin to see which player would be in the inactive list.

Please please please resign Quin. I don't care if we lose the freaking ninja.

I hope we cut loose Keo. He was not playing well at all last season. I believe that we will resign Quin. Drafting for depth is key this year. We need speed in are safeties this year.

CSN Houston thinks "it's possible" William Moore's deal with the Falcons will be a template for free agent Glover Quin and his agent to shoot for.

Moore inked a five-year, $30 million ($14 million guaranteed) deal with the Falcons on Saturday. Moore is eight months older than Quin, but he's also been a consistently better player. We'd expect Quin to get between $4.5 million to $5.5 million annually, as opposed to the $6 million Moore received.

The Texans signed TE Phillip Supernaw to the roster last week. He was on the practice squad last year.

GQs situation is making me a little nervous. All it takes is for one team to go crazy for him and the texans can only match to a certain extent.

They have 8.1 Mill free and we have 7.8 million free. Best case for us is that they sign Reggie Bush beforehand but we should be taking care of our guys!!!! The fact that once again we're silent and no news leaks anywhere bothers me.

    Pancakes:

The Texans are concentrating on keeping their own free agents as the NFL signing period begins at 3 p.m. Tuesday. Here are five of their most prominent free agents and the chances they will stay:

    Ryan Harris, offensive tackle

After signing a one-year contract, he rotated with right tackle Derek Newton, who is coming off surgery on a patellar tendon. They need depth desperately. He knows the system, and they know him.

    Chance he’ll return: 80 percent

    Glover Quin, free safety

The four-year veteran has started at corner and can play both safety positions. He’s durable and a great team guy coming off a good season. If he leaves, they have no one on the roster to replace him.

    Chance he’ll return: 70 percent

    Brice McCain, cornerback

One of the league’s better nickel corners played well until suffering a season-ending foot injury that cost him six games, including playoffs. There are a lot of free agent corners but few cover slot receivers like he does.

    Chance he’ll return: 50 percent

    Connor Barwin, outside linebacker

Dropped from 11½ to three sacks last season, but he played the run well. Had 16 hits on the quarterback and 12 tackles for loss. Good pass rushers make the most money, and some teams have lots to spend.

    Chance he’ll return: 30 percent

    James Casey, fullback/tight end

A multi-talented player who served as lead blocker for Arian Foster and set career highs with 34 catches for 330 yards and three touchdowns. For a team that needs a tight end or H-back, he can catch 60 to 70 passes.

    Chance he’ll return: 20 percent

Among things Canter said: McCain worth $3.5M to $5M a year, Dobbins won't come back for minimum, no offers from #Texans as of this morning.
