Youngest team in the league improvising on offense and winning on offense, and losing on defense and being coached on defense.

Give Daryl Morey credit for getting players that play with the maturity and IQ beyond their age. Give Kevin McHale credit for not totally ****ing it up.

I remember McHale telling interviewers he preferred guards do their job and get back on transition D. As we know, Houston's transition defense is terrible so McHale has been stressing to his guards to not go for the offensive rebound and instead get back on D. I think this was after a question on Beverley's excellent offensive rebounding %.

It would also make sense that McHale prefer his guards not go for the defensive rebound, since you want the guards to leak out after a rebound for a fast break opportunity. I agree in this sense, too many times you see Lin or Beverley fighting with Asik for a defensive rebound and I just go WTF?

First of all, who said he has no fault?.
LOH blame Lin when we lose and say he did nothing for our wins.
You (MOH) blame Mchale when we lose and say he did nothing for our wins.
    No difference!

Morey gives a lot of credit to the Rockets developmental staff for how our young players develop. The Rockets also do a good job of bringing the potential out of those players, in addition to picking the right ones. Credit goes all around the Rockets staff, even if we only see the head guys in Morey and McHale.

Now I don't know how much of that goes to McHale. Perhaps all credit goes to our assistants, trainers, Viper personnel, etc. and not McHale personally. But it's not just about finding the right guys.

Denver PG Ty Lawson against the same Suns team on Monday

    8/13, 19 pts, 6 assist, 1 TO

Ty Lawson is much better than Lin against the Suns

McSuccess giving the soft PFs a good dose of Tuff Juice and reliving some of his practices with his old dirty Celtics.

So I get labelled a MOH now? I've at least acknowledged McHale has done some good outside of his in-game decision making. That is what we don't see (we only see the in-game stuff), and I have to take a leap of faith for that.

The reality is, if there weren't bias against Lin and the site didn't have a handful of annoying LOFs and LOHs, the queue for dumping **** on McHale would circle Texas a few times over, assuming people got to watch the games on Comcast and his in-game decision making. I would be a laggard.

To be honest, even the system we play, McHale never coached this way and we all know this is a data-driven result of playing efficient. Ie Morey's fingerprints all over it. We're already stretching the boundaries trying to give credit to McHale.

And there's still no answer for our horrible 8-pts or less record, away record, back-to-back record, recent losing streak against sub.500 teams, last year's collapse, etc

So you want to say credit to McHale because we're young and has a shot at playoffs, and blame everything else on youth.

Dude, with one of the best SGs in the league, and some great other players, it's pretty obvious we should make the playoffs, regardless of our age. I swear, people credit the team going to playoffs like its thanks to Mchale. It's not. Our players are really talented and would have gone to playoffs regardless. If we had a better coach, we coulda won a lot more games.

It's the same garbage that people like to put on, without doing analysis.

But they'll turn around and say Lin is a fluke. I could easily post.

"First. Undrafted. Player. To. Put. Up. 25pts. 7 assists. In. First. Five. Starts. Comparable. to Hall. Of. Famers. Give. Credit. to. Lin."

    or

"First. Guy. To. Step. From 6th. Man. to. Rightfully. MVP. Candidate. Top. 5. player. Give. Credit. To Harden.

McHale can be as ornery as he wants, i mean, come on, he just lost a daughter recently. How he is able to do his job after that is quite astounding to be honest.

Here is the definition of hypocrisy:

    http://bleacherreport.com/articles/201096-mchales-making-a-mistake-comment-oozes-with-irony

    Firing Flip Saunders

McHale didn’t seem to ever have a problem making his head coach out to be the scapegoat. Saunders happened to be the first victim of this repeat offender. Following a season where the Wolves appeared in the Western Conference finals for the first time in team history, they struggled to be competitive. With their record at 25-26, McHale fired Flip Saunders and named himself as head coach.

Never mind that the team was having issues with Latrell Sprewell and Sam Cassell. Never mind that your big men consisted of Michael Olowokandi and Ervin Johnson. Never mind that you aren’t able to bring in much youth to keep a good thing going because you screwed up by having Joe Smith sign an illegal deal. No, clearly this is the coach’s fault.

Flip Saunders became coach of the Detroit Pistons and took them to three straight Eastern Conference Finals series, and also coached the Eastern Conference in the 2006 NBA All-Star Game.

The Timberwolves have not been to the playoffs since Flip was fired.

Lets give them the benefit of the doubt. Try picturing yourself tragically losing a loved one and having the courage to go back to work right away, only to be ridiculed by other people. Not saying we should be using it as an excuse but lets focus on all the positive things he has done for the team despite the recent tragedy.
