So true. The Lakers with D'Antoni being the coach has made Steve friggin Nash a spot up shooter averaging 13/5 while shooting 50/40/90...Yet they fancy Lin become a star in THAT offence.

    Not even friggin close.

    Lin, maybe.

Asik, no. I doubt Asik gets traded. He's perfect for this team. I don't think we'd get enough out of trading him anyways, until he plays like this for another year or two.

Linsanity happened because Lin was the focal point of that Knicks team. You think Kobe is going to take a back seat to ANYBODY? Enjoy black mamba's super-hero ball and Lin shooting those spot up corner 3s in LA. LOL

CP has the ball in his hands 100% of the time. Play off ball? Why would you need CP then?

If asik can improve his post offensive move in the off season then i agree. He misses wayy too many easy shots down low he should be sinking, and work on his free throw shooting. There honestly isn't any other centers in the league that would be better for us right now except Dwight. and i doubt we'll get him.

what??? you dont make sense...Keving Durant doesnt need the ball to be effective...Westbrook does...Durant can play as a shooting guard, or Small Forward...He doesnt need to create off the dribble...

I'm delighted that Lin's name is being floated. It means that Les will at least consider moving him for the right deal. As for Asik, it probably means that Morey isn't willing to pay him what he'll be able to get on the open market now that he's proven he can play heavy minutes.

The bigger, and more interesting, question is who would replace Lin. Just what type of PG would be a nice fit next to Harden?

Plus defender, ball secure, good at spotting up, yet not a non-factor off the dribble -- must be able to make defenses pay when loading up on Harden.

I think you have to factor in that if Lin (and Asik) were to get traded, you're likely brining in at least one big money player in, leaving potentially few resources ($$$) to use on a PG.

Patrick Beverley just might be your best bet, which I for one actually wouldn't mind. Beverley obviously still got ways to go, but he's shown some that he at the very least can be a good backup in this league and he has most of the attributes that you'd ideally like your PG next to Harden to have.

Morey's greatest ability as a GM is also his greatest flaw. He never stops looking for a deal that will make the team better and up to this point through trades that marginally improved the rockets position or assets he has built one of the best young teams in the league. However what will make Morey a truly great GM is when he can limit turnover and let the roster develop chemistry. I am of the opinion that chasing after Howard and Paul is a wild goose chase. Both of those guys have good situations ( paul especially ) and howard is too much of a fickle little girl to hedge any bets on him. It is highly unlikely due to money and big market reasons that either one of those players leave their situation to go to the rockets.

Now, one theory that does have credibility is that if we have enough room to get both of them then the allure of making a big 3 will be enough to get them here. While this plan is certainly a possibility IT IS WAY TOO RISKY. DM has struck out before and he has to know by now that even with a star to attract players that FA is a gamble. If we let pieces go in the hopes of getting cp3 and dwight then strike out we set ourselves back and possibly lose a member of the best young core in the NBA.

Even if we get them its Championship or Bust with our window being 3-4 years. We lose flexibility due to their max contracts and have to match up with Miami and OKC. Both cp3 and dwight are not without injury concerns and losing one of them takes us out of contention. In reality our odds of winning a ship with cp3 and howard are what 15 % max? OKC and Miami are better now and OKC might improve if some of the pieces in the harden trade pan out for them. Morey has shown the ability to build a team around stars ( think 06-09 ) but he was only working with 2 max contracts and we would have 3. We would have to hope vets would want to play with us like in Miami ... and gambling on the whims of NBA players is not a smart tactic.

Keep our young core that has a great shot of become ( according to Morey) the most inexperienced team to ever make the playoffs. With experience and familiarity along with the expected growth of young players with potential this team already has a shot to be a contender next year. Even better ( and i may be deluded for thinking so in todays NBA ) but faith in your players begets faith in the front office and could lead to slight discounts for players when the time comes to extend them. Asik was given the opportunity to be a full time starter when no other team would give him that chance. And we gave him a more than fair contract at the time. He has worked his ass off, and to dump him for Howard just seems wrong on so many levels. Our playters seem to have great respect for each other and have good heads on their shoulders. This just seems like a great situation for our young guys to flourish and become comfortable with each other and Houston. With hard work and a little luck, we could have our own homegrown championship team and thats really every fans dream. I wouldnt give away a shot at that for the usure prospect of a Paul/Howard/Harden big 3.

Don't tell me y'all wouldnt trade Harden for LeBron right now and surprise! So would Morey. Therefore, Harden is an asset too. Bottomline, any player is expendable if it nets you a better player. That's the name of the game. As far as all this Lin and Asik trade talk, I think this is just a way to drive a wedge between the Rockets and hope they crumble so the Lakers can make the playoffs. Period. Typical biased media playing mind games for their team (Lakers) to get to shine. Don't buy into it.

Everyone is an asset (including Harden). Cash cow? Lin is just as much our cash cow as Harden is and in some ways moreso.

Everyone is clamoring after DHo and CP3, yet i haven't seen any reaistic way we will get them and more importantly

DHo is just as much an answer to our problems as Bynum is.
