Its not often coaches or players are so truthful .... McHale was a competetive SOB on the court , dont expect him to change on the sidelines.

He isnt the best X's & O's coach .... but I think he's good for the development of these young players from an effort and competetiveness standpoint.

How many Hall of Fame players became good coaches? How many good coaches that were not Hall of Fame players? Period. End of Story.

Exactly. If he is going to call out his players for their mistakes, best he first acknowledge his own flaws and lapses in judgement.

So we should only hire coaches who have the exact resume of Phil Jackson?

Phil Jackson averaged .099 Win Shares in his playing career. Let's only hire coaches who averaged .099 Win Shares in their careers.

This is basically what your post is saying.

Noticed that too. Jeremy average 3.3 RPG this season, but in March, other than the golden state game, he's getting 1 or less per game. Not sure why.

On the other hand, I noticed our players don't box out, why is that? they either jump for rebound, or stand and watching, that really doesn't help. Not sure whether McHale notice that or emphasis that, you can't have every one on the team go fight for rebound at the same time, like this, right?

Has McHale ever tried to take credit for any of our wins?

Just watched again on FOX26. Robinson was going against Ohlbrecht, had the ball in his hand, hit(not throw) Ohlbrecht with the ball. Ohlbrect with the look of "Why you gotta do that man?"

Robinson: I just got here 5 games in. It's all I'm trying to do man. Trying to be the most competitive as I can to prove to them I want to play.

I agree. McHale has not been as bad a coach as he is made out to be in CF but his lack of ANY accountability is not a good sign.

He's accountable. What makes you think he isn't?

How did you interpret that from my post is beyond me? I was responding to your absolution of McHale's faults because he is an HOF. I never said HOF players should not be given a chance as a coach. Certainly McHale deserves a chance, but he shouldn't be given a pass because he is a HOF player. Given the success rate of HOF players as good coaches, I would not bet on McHale, but I do believe that he deserves a chance. I just hope he knows when he errs. Otherwise, he will never correct himself. From his interviews, it seems it's always the players' fault when the team loses.

Hellooooo.... you people who have just started watching basketball/professional sports last year...

How many professional coaches ever accept blame for any bad substitutions they make? Even if they're aware of it, not even the worst coaches will do that.

News flash: Kevin McHale not only hates losing as a coach, he hated it as a player. Sometimes some of you jokers don't realize that McHale's remembered by old time Rockets fans for being a badass S.O.B. who played his arse off. We hated him. Why? Because he was driven. He was relentless. He took no quarter from anyone. As a player, he gave the Rockets hell. That's why I have to laugh when I read some of these comments. You have no idea. McHale is saying these things about his players because he expects them to play with the same intensity that he did. The same professionalism. And I think the players respect him for expecting that from them. Do you think it's a coincidence that this team is overachieving? While I have problems with aspects of McHale as a coach, and had huge problems with the hiring of McHale at the time, the results speak for themselves. We're playing a hell of a lot better than anyone ought to expect, and that's a fact.

Keep dreaming up excuses for your favorite player, whoever it is. I don't have the slightest problem with what McHale said.

The problem is you go from simple behavior to.... McHale thinks he is perfect and will never make the necessary change in his coaching...

Just curious, is there any 2012ers-3ers that actually like McHale?

I guess McHale's heart is in coaching o_O

Hindsight is always 20/20 my friend, I too wish we still had Adelman (maybe he wishes he had us too now).

I thought everything pointed to McHale being more of a player's coach, less of a x's and o's type of coach. Seems like he is just very competitive if anything. BUT, as Meh pointed out, the things McHale is calling the guys out on are just mental lapses and inconsistency. Rebounding and defense is about knowing assignments and effort.
