Im not a super hardcore Lin fan but I dont believe this in fact I wouldnt be shocked if Rockets stay with Asik if they miss out on Howard and go after Josh Smith or wait till 2014 and wait for somthin better if thought i hate that but trading Lin and Asik for Jefferson lol ...yea ok !

You could sign Jefferson outright without having to lose Asik or Lin.

If Patterson and Battier get trade, anyone can be traded.

Would rather have Smith over Jefferson...Jefferson is a good player...but i put him on the scale of ZBo...players that are good, but just keep you a middle of the pack playoff team...Smith has the ability to be more of an attraction than I dont want more repeat years that we had to go thru with Yao and TMac...we should either be in the semifinals or finals with whatever deals are made from this point forward...

Everyone agrees that the Rockets currently are examples of teams that are low tier playoff teams...could pull off a stunner in the first round but dont have enough to win a title...So everyone should understand that the Rockets have no intentions of being a middle of the Pack team...its either add another superstar, or just wait...impulse signing will no longer happen...Morey finally has enough poker chips to play poker with...

    yup.

DHo wants to be the man. Sneaking into the playoffs playing robin to Kobe's batman won't solve anything.

Sign & trade Lin for Paul, Sign & trade Asik for Howard...both LA teams get something in return for losing their players...too much of a fantasy but it is plausible

A lot of you are overestimating Lin's value and in general, there is a strong sense of delusion about his potential on this site. Not many teams would want to take on his contract especially now his ceiling has been exposed (as he is scouted). The whole marketing aspect is moot if your PG is a liability and you're trying to make the playoffs. You could put him on a perennial celler dweller like Phoenix (Minnesota took the same novel approach in signing Ridnour), but even then you need a strong Asian/feminist community that justifies his shortcomings like a LOF would.

As for Asik, yeah... he's only a legit starting C if you have LeBron, Wade and Bosh in the starting lineup. Good rebounder but not enough of a will imposer or defensive presence - not to mention a complete offensive liability. I think the Cousins/Bynum/Howard trio is worth throwing a lot of assets at, then trying to sneak in the highest ceiling player at PG or PF. Smith is probably a better option than Parsons because both Harden and Parsons are defensive liabilities, but the Rockets don't play much defense and Parsons is great value on the $.

No way Lakers doing it. Kobe is going to retire in a few years, they need more superstars not more role players.

-I stopped taking this report seriously when Sam brought up trading Lin for Al Jefferson. Im not sure if Sam realizes that Jefferson is going to be a free agent this Summer. Sure he could have been referring to a sign and trade situation, but I find that doubtful. That would be a terrible trade for Houston given the circumstances where normally a player like Jeffersons value in a S&T might be a couple draft picks... not Jeremy Lin by any stretch.

They could S&T for Jefferson with the Knicks 2nd round picks, and if for some reason they needed to trade Lin for salary cap reasons, Im sure you could at the very least get a Kyle Lowry-Toronto Pick type of asset in return from another team. Or they could trade Lin to Utah for Jefferson, and a slew of good draft picks.

At that point though if the Rockets had Howard and Jefferson coming to town, the Rockets really need players that can help them compete, not necessarily draft picks to rebuild.

-The Asik trade scenario I could only see happening if Dwight Howard actually does give up 30 mil guaranteed to come to Houston. In that situation, I also don't think it makes sense to S&T Asik to LA when they could just sign Dwight as a free agent, and then shop Asik on the trade market to a team that can give you a nice slew of assets or another good wing player in return.

So are Lin and Asik secretly being made available in trades?.... I guess its feasible, but given all of this is riding on the Rockets signing Dwight Howard in free agency.... Id say the chances are slim to none.
