In all honestly, I've logged over 15 hours in and there are many things in this game I HATE Most importantly though is that they categorize it as a Multiplayer game. You can have regions with different players as mayors. I'm in a private region with friends and we have about 10 people.. How can you call this a multiplayer game when you can't even communicate among the other mayors in the region efficiently??? You have the 'Region Wall'.. it doesn't even notify you when someone posts on it.. then when you check it all it says in things like 'SO and SO earned achievement this and that..' Essentially whatever message was posted in lost into oblivion and there are no filters so you only get messages from the mayor. It's almost impossible to communicate with anyone.. AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH then they take out Cheetah mode.. SO yeh I like sit and wait to play... only to play and sit and wait to make money to play as the game is going on in what seems slow motion when you are used to cheetah speed... AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH Then the city maps are tiny, I have some cities packed like sardines and there still isn't enough space..... AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH Here are some tips to sim builders from my experience 1. Having two cities atleast and volunteering essentials like trash/firemen/medics/police is crucial and helps alot 2. If your running low on water, put a sewer plant infront of your water station, then put a filteration system on your water system. Your water plant will re-use your sewer water/ Your water will be filtered sh/t water, enough to not get anyone really sick.. Almost sh/t water is better then no water right? You can keep using that sh/tty water over and over. 3. If you have gaps of land between road and buildings, like an alleyway.. Parks can be built behind each other in edit mode and connected without the second having to be along a road. As long as you have the first park along the road, you can connect the others behind it through the open alleyways of buildings raising land values 4. Bus stops, do not do them on Avenues, it will back up your avenues as the buses stop to pick up people. Place them on roads that are connected to avenues for smooth traffic flow.

EA has seriously gone downhill since this mess <iframe width="560" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/XJwXBw86g30" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
lol. Finally got my key from Direct2Play. Origin is Upr1sing Not understanding the ingame friends thing, I've tried to look up my buddies but it won't work.
Do you have to do the getting started crap on every server you join? Ugh. I can't keep a steady connection on East1. Starting a region on West2
Richard Garriott (the Godfather of RPG's) did an interview on GameSpot. He's coming out with a game on Kickstarter called "Shroud of the Avatar" : http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/portalarium/shroud-of-the-avatar-forsaken-virtues-0?ref=live In the interview the funniest part (and the part most ppl already know about) was the following : On development pressures after selling Origin Systems to Electronic Arts My least favorite games that I have released are games that I have released just after becoming part of a new, bigger company. My favorite Ultimas are Ultima IV, Ultima VII, and Ultima Online. Ultima VIII was the first game I did after we became a part of Electronic Arts. And Electronic Arts is a very successful company and has a pattern by which they operate; and for them, for their sports games, the greatest tool for success is to make sure they launch that sports game at the beginning of the season of that sport. And that's frankly all that really matters. And so they constantly evolve their sports engine and make sure that they have a release available at the beginning of each season and then continue to evolve the tools and engine. And for them, that works great. More power to them. And they're producing phenomenal product and…I believe it will continue to be successful. However, that's not what makes Ultima successful. And as soon as we were part of Electronic Arts, the pressure to say 'Look, I don't care what you have to cut out of the game, but you need to make sure you make the Christmas selling season,' because that's much more important than producing the journey of art you wished to produce. And so, they were more successful than we were, so I towed the company line and we cut things out of Ultima VIII and…we shipped it. Frankly it just wasn't finished, it wasn't complete. And so, doing [Shroud of the Avatar] as more of an independent developer, we'll be able to bring the players what they and we want to make together much more successful. Umm.... Now, I'm getting a message that says, "memory allocation of - 1558288472 bytes failed. SimCity will now exit. [1006]" I KNOW it's not a memory issue with my computer. It only comes up when I try to load the game. The only thing I've changed is that I'm on a different wifi network. I wonder if this is the issue.
Had a blast playing it today. Game is so damn addicting. They have added some servers, and will be adding more. So connection doesn't seem to be much of an issue, buddy and I just had to coordinate what server to go on.
EA is giving everyone who purchased SimCity a free game. http://geekbeat.tv/eas-lucy-bradshaw-on-simcity-launch-that-was-dumb/
EA Fail. My friend told me about what the hell EA did, outside of FIFA Soccer, EA has been on a major decline. Even this free game thing wont win me over
Good article, I remember playing Ulitima IV and loved how the character was based off of choices I made when I visited the fortune teller. That game made me feel like the character was really me. And all the moral choices you made in the game made it feel like you we're part of the world. He is a very innovative game designer.
After putting some time into it, I feel that the smaller city size is no issue. There is so much you have to do to build up your city and maintain it that when you get into 150k-200k people the city seems so big. Solo much going on in that area.
I'm having issues with the 150k population. Namely traffic. IDK how to combat it. I have busses, trolleys, avenues going everywhich way
Well....just got the "city is not processing, roll back or abandon city" error. Awesome. I had $3,670,000 . ..just...awesome.
