Has he always been a big strikeout pitcher?

It's a career high. You know the knock on him last year was that his stuff couldn't miss bats

That and his fastball was pretty flat, right? I'm not that into scouting for the draft, I focus more on the current minor league players

He still struck out like 130 in 123 innings last year.

That's a solid line for Manea. Bryant sure is making things interesting. You think he has a chance at being the first pick? (of course there's still a lot of time left until the draft)

I doubt it because most scouts don't think he can play 3B. He most likely ends up at 1B or in LF. If he could play third, though, he'd be right there with Appel and Manaea to go number one.

Jonathan Gray of OU is rising quickly. He was just named Big 12 pitcher of the week.

Vs. UCLA on Saturday, he threw 7 scoreless, allowed 5 hits, walked 1, and struck out 8 for the win. The following video is from the 1st-3rd innings of that game.

    <iframe width="560" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/PpmOv_EhynI" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

With a mid-90s fastball that includes "a peak of 98-100 and no signs of diminishing velocity late in games," his stuff is fitting of a man who stands 6'4" and weighs 240. He also throws a cutter/slider hybrid in the mid-to-high 80s and a low-80s changeup.

Aaron Fitt of Baseball America compares Gray to Gerrit Cole in a recent chat. Cole, if you remember, was a 1st-round pick of the Yankees in high school in 2008, spurned them for UCLA, and emerged as the #1 overall pick in 2011.

Loganville takes this one via mercy rule, 14-4. A grand slam ended it.
