What world do you live in?

They make minimum wage, under a living wage. You get what you pay for. No, there are not other people out there that would "love" to work at McDonalds. Anyone that wants to work there can.. They hire felons and illegals.

What if her being fired resulted in a better person getting their opportunity to shine? ;)

You did fine, but reporting this to the higher-ups would be overkill.

I don't know why you guys are giving him such a hard time. A manager straight up lied to his face. In any service industry that's unacceptable.

He handled it the right way by calmly letting her know he is aware she lied to him and he does not appreciate it. He didn't even take the free food. Having worked in service related jobs as a wee lad, I know that's enough that the person likely will avoid doing that to anyone again.

Taking it a step further and reporting it to a higher up is a bit too much though. In the end you gain nothing from that and it's an overreaction.

Definitely should have called the SWAT team, for principal reasons.

    Another idea:

Call 911 and ask for their assistance. The dispatcher will probably tell you to talk to the manager. Be sure to explain that she are the manager.

This is tricky because your hope for better service is really only feasible if you go into the lobby and complain before going home and being away too long to credibly remind them of the argument. The one rule for any consumer in this situation is never separate yourself from your money or the staff with paid product in hand.

Make their life as uncomfortable as possible in the immediacy as all they really care about is getting you out of there. That's actually probably a pretty big part of her fake crying fit, as Carol Kane once said "she failed and she lied."

You would have been completely justified in researching the franchise ownership or district/regional management and contacting them to fully document your case.
