I can't remember a player falling down as often as DMo. Dude hits the deck more often than Yao did as a rookie. Reminds me of a baby deer.
I wish the team would adjust to him and let him display his talent. Having him stand behind the 3 all game is hard to watch. Suns should have got dominated in the paint tonight.
Motie is going to have to learn to impose his will on the game. If he doesn't then he won't turn into much. He's got to take the bull by the horns and make something happen here. As long as he just stands around the perimeter and doesn't assert himself, doesn't move and go to the post and DEMAND the ball then he's a total waste out there.
D'Mo just looks lost most of the time except when he shoots the corner 3, and he still can't make it.
Thats true, but it starts with the coach to get him touches. He's only a rookie so in order for the team to succeed we need to find a way to get him going. Asking a rookie to impose his will who has less than 10 starts is a lot to ask. He's our best post player we need to attempt to run plays for him. The imbalance in this offense is ridiculous.
Motiejunas is still incredibly talented. He's just being used in completely the wrong way. Right now he's overly concerned with sprinting down the court as fast as possible because that's the team's style of play. This is causing him to not rebound..at all. On top of that, he's not posting up at all in half court sets because our philosophy is to "spread the floor." He needs to be fed the ball in isolation post up plays because he has such a huge advantage down low. I just don't like the way he's being used whatsoever.
Um, what you expecting when you spread the floor, and put it in corner?.. he would be beast in paint, give ball to him in paint, and you get points / points and one/ assist to 3p/ assist to Asik, there is also in breaks when DMo runs in paint against smallest players, and no one give him ball. McHale was player in the paint, DMo is too, the fact he can shoot 3p is good, but for that we have all other players, NO paint, NO PO and PO wins ..
He does shoot way too many 3s. Even a good 3 point shooting PF like Dirk doesn't shoot that much. Mchale is seriously not using him properly.
The reason he takes so many threes is bc when he posts up and calls for the ball he usually is ignored. He posted deep in the paint several times last night but never got the ball. His strengths are in the post... Which is a good thing in a low scoring game when the offense is sputtering.
Not a single pass to DMO in the paint, despite being defended by smaller guys all game long... McFail
as long as DMo plays for McFail, he will not post good numbers. He's a player suited for slow pace and running plays.
In games where D-Mo plaid over 10 minutes this season (last 9 out of 10, 19.5 minutes as average): Points - 95 - 10.55ppg FG% - 37/68 - (54.41%) 3PT% - 9/27 - (33.33%) FT% - 12/18 - (66.66%) Rebounds - 33 - 3.66rpg Assists - 14 - 1.55apg Fouls - 23 - 2.55fpg (last two with 4.5 average!) The key point that there is nothing wrong with offense. If he can average shooting and PPG as now D-Mo could end season beeing top5 between rookies. Also he has 70% FG in the paint, I don't understand why is he standing behind the 3pt line. It's nothing wrong with rebounds either, because half of them he just tips out and doesn't grab. He should grab 5 a game I think, and I'm ok with that. He needs to improove defensively, and need it badly, and fast. Should come with time I guess, especially in summer when he could learn more from Asik. Don't expect much more from 20 draft pick in rookie season!
