For him to play like that he would have to be the sole PNR ball handler. As long as Harden is here that won't happen. It isn't because he is incapable more because his responsibilities are different.

Once Lin becomes a better & more consistent shooter I think he would be a good second option (although I would prefer that we have improved our talent level so he doesn't have to be). Also has to improve on a bunch of other things, keeping dribble alive, decision making etc.

This is a very good response, I think you can be very reasonable when asked to explain yourself instead of just throwing back and forth one or two line zingers with others. I have read very fair and objective posts from you before too but they get lost in the noise of heated exchanges.

The only thing I disagree with is that his fans would prefer Lin putting up better numbers instead of seeing his team in the playoffs. That is not true for me and I have not seen that comment explicitly or implicitly stated by any of his fans.

Oh yeah, there you have it. The bar has been set so low with McHale, we are shocked by the lack of applause whenever we have a game without a headscratching coaching **** **.

That said, I am reminded of how much worse things can be and how much lower the bar can drop whenever I watch a Raptors game. SMH. Thank you McHale for not being Dwane Casey.

    It isn't that simple....

First we only have an elite defender at the 5

Second, Lin is not covering 2 players, no one on the Rockets are.

Third Parsons is not an elite defender this season, mostly because of an increased role in the offense.

The issue with the Rockets is team defense. It takes discipline and consistency to be a good defensive unit. Further it is really hard to do with the pace we play and with a short rotation. Especially with basically a new team.

Thanks. I appreciate that. Trust me, I would much rather have this discussion then engaging in pointless insults. I'm certainly not above criticism as I engage plenty, but I also take note of the intelligent fans no matter whom they support and am glad you do the same.

That's fair and I'm culpable for grouping his fanbase into a certain viewpoint. I've actually had some of my better conversations with Lin fans in all honesty.

To change topics, who do you think we keep between DMo and Robinson? I think both are backup PF's and one goes in the next two offseasons. I tend to lean towards TRob because he can offer us defense off the bench and would be a good compliment to either Love or Aldridge.

I really think he is getting worn out. THis is the longest stretch of games he's played - it's almost like a rookie season and he seems to be working really hard, like he's still not in top shape endurance-wise.

I was very high on DMO last week in the games leading to his insertion into the starting lineup and even in the home game against Dallas. I've been disappointed by his recent performances along with foul trouble. I don't know what his upside can be, but I've seen flashes of great post play very similar to McHale's in the 80's. I am assuming McHale should be given credit for having something to do with that.

TRob looks like a formidable physical specimen so I was rather perplexed to see his getting rejected by the rim on that dunk attempt last night. I think he definitely has more defensive utility than DMo right now just from his physical presence alone. But as JVG said, having a stretch 4 that can shoot the 3 makes the Rockets a better team which is why the lineup with Delfino at the 4 is our best lineup (well at least on offense).

I'm assuming it will take a lot more time before one of these two emerges as the better choice over the other. Unless we sign Josh Smith over the summer, one of these two will be the starter next year. I'm not that high on Josh Smith to be honest and I'm not even talking about Max contract. I just don't see Min or Port trading Love or LMA this summer but man I wish I can see one or the other in a Rox uniform sooner rather than later!

That's debatable, because his hand never affected the ball. I don't know if the refs should have called it a goaltend, but I'm glad they didn't. Boy, did you hear the groans and boos from the crowd? Music to my ears, especially since it's the SF crowd. Sorry, I work for a company based in SF and have to endure Giants fans non-stop, but I'm just jealous I guess. That's why I especially love when Rockets beat the Warriors.

His college teammates said he always looks tired on the court, but he really isn't. He was like that last season, too. Breen and Frazier would comment that he looked exhausted and then Lin would blow past everyone right after they commented on it, and they'd say, "Well, I guess he has some energy left."

both cases are strong independent examples of mchale's incompetence in the mavs game. it's people who deny it who are idiots.

I always read the threads during the game to see what rediculos comment tops them all.

    This is pretty close.

it's like an invasion of sour pusses and chicken littles having a convention.

What's been most troubling is that I thought he'd have at least average footwork and instincts on the defensive end by virtue of playing professionally since his young teens but it's apparent that won't be the case. This is a kid who went from a potential top 3 pick to a late first round pick in a weak draft. I think he can score off the bench but that's about it. He's a European PPat.

I think it's been a throw away year for Robinson. The Kings are a joke and even at Kansas he was a raw prospect. If I was Les I'd pay Hakeem's fee and have him working here all summer. Rotating between Dream and McHale would really let you knwo where hes at. Plus, he'll get work with D12 and Josh Smith too. No question we need a stretch 4 and that won't change. Whether you plug D12 in as our max player, Asik, or even Bynum (hope not) you still need a guy who can shoot the ball outside of 15 feet.

Smith isn't a fit at all with our current roster. He'll be left wide open on P@Rs and that won't take any pressure off our backcourt. I can see Love forcing a trade and Portland should really rebuild and cash out on Aldridge. They're not contending for a while and having a duo of Asik and Batum would immediately make them one of the best defensive teams in the league.

What if DMO plays the first 2 quarters purely for offense purpose whileTRob comes in for the other 2 for defense? Quite honestly, DMO has better offense but his defense needs serious work.

I think DMo's biggest issue is his mentality. He is young and he gets demoralized quickly. When he gets a bit tougher, his game will improve right away. For that to happen, he needs to get some playing time and make some mistakes.

Hopefully, we will get him to play some meaningful times in the coming games and still make it to the playoffs.

I can't believe McHale caved to Lin fans and played Lin in the 4th just because he didnt want to come across as racist. BOF are in revolt! Can't believe Lucccky's letter worked.

I'm okay with them staggering the minutes between the two depending on the matchup.

Thank you, Morey, for hiring McHale over Dwayne Casey?

Did you notice that Golden State did NOT get a whole bunch of easy baskets in situations where we took a 3, missed, they had a player leaking out and our point guard didn't move to challenge a potential long pass?
