Dat famous Linsanity scene where Lin is giving a mouthful to DPOY candidate Amare for yet another dumb defensive play is absolutely hilarious.

Knowing what we know now, I don't think passing on Roy should be held against McHale. The jury is still out on passing on Chalmers.

Ummm, yeah holding Roy against him for being 100% correct would be a laughable paradox wouldn't it?

Trading Chalmers is not a make-or-break move for anyone in this league (is trading Marcus Morris for a 2nd round pick really the lynch pin to a team's success?).

Trading Ray Allen for Stephen Marbury when Marbury and KG were great friends and Steph was on track for a remarkable career until he went off the deep end mentally doesn't seem to be a particularly bad move either. It's not like the Roy situation where you had someone saying he was going to have those exact problems when he was drafted out of GT.

Here is a good article as a companion to the stats posted above. This bad coaching staff has underperformed by 5 wins so far, the team has underperformed more than any other team in the league based on expected wins and win shares.

    http://wagesofwins.com/2012/02/26/evaluating-the-coaching-the-coach-is-wrong-redux/

"This reinforces a point that we’ve been emphasizing recently. Playing the right guys is a non trivial skill. The data shows that there are real differences on a year to year, team to team basis in what actually gets players on the court. Teams and coaches simply do not play their best players; instead they play the players who they think are their best players.

That makes all the difference in the world.

Coaches do matter, but not in the ways that the media tries to sell us. It’s about who they put on the court. The surprising thing is that proper allocation of those minutes is actually a rare skill. Let’s see what is revealed when we look at all the data since the 1977-1978 Season"

5 games has a big impact if you substract it from the loss column and add it to the win column.

No he did not, a good coach tells his players to feed the hot hand, calls good plays and does not let his players just do whatever they want. The only thing he did right was leave Lin & Asik in in the 4th.

People are still going to hate on McHale even after tonight's game. Our team came out dead, flat, and didn't move the ball and he took a timeout, did his job as a coach, and it turned around.

I have no explanation for what Keith Smart was doing there, or at any other time.

The hell are people b****ing about tonight? Of course the Rockets win shares have slipped the past 5 games. The Rox made a major trade and took away 2 really good rotation players, and their 2nd best team defender. The players not executing as effective seems understandable. It's amazing they have won any of these games to be honest.

I can see why a grown man would need to go to his "happy place" when his team is getting owned most of the time.

Mchale basically do nothing tonight, Harden is off,Lin is off, not setup for parsons 2 nights in a row? Parsons is so damn hot, I dont think he had a single shot except the lay up.
we are lucky we steal one game. I just dont get it, why not screen to free parsons to get him a open look??

Mchale isn't too great and he isn't too bad. That being said the ideal coach for a team like this would be Don Nelson/George Karl/ Rick Adelman.
