You can't compare the amount of development Yao, the first pick of the draft, had compared to Jeremy, undrafted. Yao's draft position afforded him a "long rope" with the coaches, as did his potential.
Sorry, but Jeremy Lin -- as good as he is -- will never be anywhere NEAR as good as Yao Ming. Yao earned those minutes by delivering on his potential. Lin needs to do the same; if he plays well consistently, he'll be given more PR.
This type of idiotic thinking leads to people who are "supposed to know" to draft Sam Perkins #1 over MJ then giving him a "longer" rope. It must be sort of an envy for things that are long.
I can't even fathom how people think McHale is a bad coach. I think he is a legit coach of the year candidate.
How can you ask for consistency when your coach is inconsistent with rotational minutes? I mean it's already difficulty enough as a young player to maintain consistency, not to mention playing difficulty position as PG. A backup, consistently getting 15 min of playing time, will know he can go all out during those minutes on court. A starter, who finished the game can watch the game clock and know when to go all out and when to conserve energy. This is like a race with marathoners, midrange runners, and sprinters but you don't tell them the distance of the race. Do you expect them to run consistently?
For those that use the "Yao was a top prospect and Lin was undrafted" argument do realize that Lin was wrongfully overlooked due to being an Asian point guard, right? - Only Californian Player of the Year to not receive an athletic scholarship. - Drops 30 against lottery pick, Kemba Walker and UConn, and ends up one of 11 finalists for the Bob Cousy Award, an award given to the Nation's top point guard. Common guys, don't be ignorant and make CF look so simple minded, it's basic research. He didn't eat a magic bean in New York, the dude always had skills and based on his high school and college resume, he should have been drafted.
This letter can make a huge impact if you follow these simple steps: 1) Print out 20 copies of this letter 2) Attend the next Rockets game 3) After the buzzer of the 3rd quarter throw all letters in the form of paper airplanes at the Rockets bench 4) Whilst you are being hauled away by security, remember to scream and shout that they must read your letters.
You can just reply directly to my post. Compare the two all you want, but it's apples and oranges. Yao was always going to get more run and development based on his draft position and potential. I'm not say Lin is devoid of talent, but I am saying he is LESS talented thanYao Ming. The Rockets made a huge investment I ayah and were going to do their best those it thru. Their investment in Lin pales in comparison to that of Yao.
I dont get Jeremy Lin play in the game what the hell are people complaing about this letter should be more about T-Jones then Lin lol ....OH !! and SPOIL Alert if Lin sucks again tonight hes gonna be benched and PB is going to be doing what Lin aint so yall Lin fan better hope hes onhis A-Game tonight !
You're missing the point. Lin's race was a roadblock that made GM's not invest in him in the first place. Yao was a 7'6" skilled center, it doesn't matter what you look like if you're a 7'6" skilled center. Remember that scrub Sun Mingming? Even he generated more NBA interest than Lin. Riddle me this, if Lin was black or white and led his team to a state championship and was named N. Cali Player of the Year, does he still not get a single scholarship?
You know they are the same race, so what's really going on here? Lin is Asian, goes to schools locally in the US where he can easily be scouted. Yao is Asian and played overseas where scouting wasn't as developed. By the time Jeremy makes it into the league international scouting and drafting had exploded. I'm not interested in talking about white and black folks. I'm talking about two Asian NBA players. Riddle me this, if Yao had been white or black which pick is he in the draft?
Did you not read the part where I said race won't play a part in a big man, again, there's a reason why a scrub like Sun Mingming got more NBA interest than Lin did. Yao would have been drafted number 1 if he was black, yellow or orange. Again you're still not getting what I'm saying.
