Dredd Damn I wished I'd have seen this in theaters now. Good action, tense, and stays on a fast pace for most of the film. Plot was like some sort of futuristic sci-fi Die Hard. Much better than I expected. 8/10
It was one of the most visually striking movies I have ever seen - the effects of the 'slo-mo drug' were amazing. And Urban was having great fun in the role, so all in all it was way better than expected.
Skyfall- 8.5/10 Great Bond movie and much better than the second one Argo- 9/10 Really enjoyed it and quite intense Silver Linings Playbook- 7.5/10 Good for a chick flick Red Dawn 4/10 C. Thomas Howell is rolling over in his grave. What a god-awful remake
Seven Psychopaths - 8.5/10 Loved this movie. Judging by the reviews it's gotten, it seems like it's pretty hit or miss with people, which is kind of what I enjoy about it. It's really clever and has great dialogue and a great cast. I don't know why it's listed as a comedy because I didn't really laugh at all, but I still thought it was very entertaining and original. Would like to hear what others think about it.
Anybody seen Carnage? I've started to really enjoy Christoph Waltz after seeing Inglorious Basterds and Django (D is silent). It looks boring, but I'm curious.
Oz the Great and Powerful - 5.5 Had a pretty good cast. Movie was sub par. Climax fell flat and the ending was even flatter. I guess kids might enjoy it. Is this supposed to be the prequel of Wizard of Oz? and James Franco is a sub par actor. and Michelle Williams look real hot in a long blonde hair. and would still hit Mila Kunis, witch and all.
foreign movie rule #1, subtitles, always subtitles* *unless it's a blockbuster worldwide release film(which this isn't)
Dub, reading hurts the eyes. However turn the dub off when you get to the secks scenes. You'd wanna hear their real voices for that.
Second this. Subtitles are almost ALWAYS better. Not only do some things get lost in translation, but the dialogue not matching the lip movements is annoying. The only time where this may be ok is animated movies. Moneyball Thoroughly enjoyed all the baseball analysis and the old school vs. new school arguments. Just made me fall in love with the game all over again. And the ending was very touching. What's more, my wife, who is a casual baseball fan at best, enjoyed it. 8/10
Oz the Great and Powerful – It’s not a perfect movie and Franco seemed miscasted but I really enjoyed it overall. Thought it was really well done, visually it’s an amazing movie especially in 3D – B-
Haywire Felt like it could have been so much more, but Soderbergh decided to give it the same treatment as the Ocean's movies, and to some extent, Contagion. I haven't seen all his movies, but the ones I have seen follow the same formula, regardless of genre. So here we have a spy action-thriller that moves at a lethargic pace and is accompanied by an out-of-place score that hardly elevates the tension. It was a bit of a chore getting through it honestly. 5/10
Skyfall - 8.5. Very well done. I thought the old school/new was beat to death a little too much. The villain was entertaining
I've heard good things but it's been sitting around in my collection. You had me at futuristic sci-fi Die Hard. I'll definitely watch it tonight.
Agreed. Dubs sound and look cheesy IMHO. It ruins the movie for me. I can't sit through more than 2 minutes of dubs. Unless it's old school kung fu flicks.
