Also, there were Kyle Lowry and Goran Dragic, who suddenly became the best PG's in the league who were not Rose-Rondo-Westbrook-Parker-Nash. Oh the regrets and lamentations!
Contrary to what other Lin fans think, I just don't think FO would choose Lin over McHale. I mean Lin is a good PG but he is not better than Lowry was with the Rockets and they let him go. As for his marketing/financial value to the FO, I am not sure that is a good enough reason to set a precedent for firing a coach over a non super star player. That said, one of them has to go next season. No doubt.
Clutch will aim higher. Bleacher Report or ESPN type controversial message board will get a lot more ad. revenue. The ultimate goal will be GOOGLE. Then he can come over to California and leave those clueless "true" Rockets Fans behind.
I actually don't mind Lowry....if he was not such a jerk in the first place. Was driven out of Memphis, Houston and now about to be pushed out of Toronto....SMH
Clutch is obviously ok with the trolling. or else he would just ban them right. And that goes for both LOF and LOFHs. If you are looking for someone that spots up 3s, is high energy and play hand off to harden basketball, Beverly seems to be a much better fit. I don't think he has the ceiling that Jeremy does. People seem to forget what he was able to accomplish last year and just dismiss it as a fluke. We've already had a glimpse of how good he can be, I don't think I'm ready to write him off just yet. I really don't get the Mchale defenders on here, he wasn't a good coach at Minnesota, he wasn't good with us last year. The only good thing I ever hear about him is that he is a good motivator and a players coach. He is bad at rotations, bad X and O guy. runs nothing out of the time out. Maybe I'm just old fashioned and want someone that actually has a playbook. I'm not even criticizing him for taking Lin or asik out like everyone else is. It's stupid things like taking whole shot clock when you are 2 points behind with 26 seconds left, not putting in defensive rebounder at end of the game to win you a game. These are mistakes that no nba coach should make. With all that been said, I'm really happy with where we are as a team, first year of rebuild and 7th possible 6th seed? a solid young core with plenty of upside and potential, I just think for us to be a championship contending team we are going to need a better coach / assistant coaches. But at the end of the day I''m willing to eat crow, maybe Mchale will do better with a full off season with his core players. maybe next season he won't treat everyone like a rookie and start running plays that he feels they can actually understand. Either way as long as we are working towards a chance at another chip the future seems alot brighter than the past 10 years.
Keep losing a few more games with Beverly the beloved CP3 savoir for the Rockets. I mean as long as the tickets keep losing and Lin keeps getting benched in the 4th there will be a lot of media complaining. I don't think PB is that bad of a player. Remind me of a TD but more consistent. I just don't think he had the dribble penitration and court vision of Lin. I think more importantly is not an article about whylin doesn't play but more Asik. 25 minutes 15 rebounds wtf?? Bring him back!
why would anyone go after clutch for this? i think it's a very fair assessment from clutch. when lin is on, it's a whole different ball game. when he's not on, he's pretty average and that's what beverley is - average, with above average energy on defense but i doubt he can provide the same type of defensive energy over 35 mins every game. but he's not asked to - if lin is tired going into 4th quarter and they need fresh legs for defensive pressure more than offensive production then go with beverley for the quarter and if he gives you some offense than that's a bonus. but you could also argue that there isn't a big drop-off on the Defensive side when lin is in the game vs. bev, and there were games where lin was awesome on D, making huge blocks and creating key turnovers. there's a reason why lin was on the list of 20 players up for defensive player of the year per ESPN (asik is on there too). he just plays a different style then bev (and douglas) and maybe the coaches like the bev style of D better. but although beverley doesn't hurt you on offense, lin actually adds more on offense, both on the tangible and intangible side of things. the team just runs better on the offensive end when he's on the court. the ball moves better and people get easier shots. if you sit lin, you risk missing out on his offensive production and knowing his history, he could play average for 3 quarters and explode for 1 quarter. anyway, i still think the wizards game was a good move to play bev in Q4, but still disagree with the mav's game. mainly, lin wasn't offensively off that game - he was having a good game shooting 50%, and did a good job guarding mike james limiting him to 2 baskets or something up to that point. also, if you're putting in bev for defensive purposes, why put him on mike james when he hasn't been an offensive threat all game? why not put him on mayo? i think mchale just goofed on that one...
To me Beverley is TD 2.0 with a better bball IQ and is more consistent. He can certainly pass the ball.
This is actually a 100% serious question: Did Jeremy Lin sleep with your girlfriend? Or hit on you girlfriend? Hell...did your GF just glance in his general direction? Because brother, U so mad it's funny
Why no doubt? they're not even done with their first season together yet. at least give them one offseason to figure this out.
No, I don't think it was a fair assessment by Clutch at all, imo. To say "it's not like there's a big dropoff when you bench Lin" is pretty telling of how he feels about Lin. It's his opinion, it's all good. But let's not pretend that Clutch didn't just say that this year Lin is not much better than a pickup from Europe with 3 weeks experience in the NBA. It is what it is. But, I disagree. Just my opinion. And FYI, (because I know some of you guys are ubersensitive and see all Lin fans as one) no I don't think Lin is a superstar, no he hasn't played like a star this year, no there's no rule that Lin must play in the 4th quarter, no he's not our best player. But to say that he's not clearly better than TD or Beverley and that there is no real dropdown from Lin to Beverley? You guys know that the bench players typically play against the .. bench players, right?
I think it's hilarious that the forum explodes when Jeremy doesn't play in the 4th quarter of a couple games. The explosion just creates overdramatization that isn't warranted. Lin isn't a star at this moment in time and is still developing. Now if he keeps sitting out for entire 4th quarters while the team is losing, then I guess we can come back to this discussion, but it's been like 2 games... People need to chill.
As if any one of us can read someone else's mind... It isn't always easy, but who's genuine if he can't be taken at his word?
2 games? Even 1 game can mean the difference this year. People seem to have a short memory, this was a LOST in the record books.
jlinfans.net LOL. I don't really see anyone posting there. Is he really that much better than Darren Collison or George Hill? I think Jlin is greatly overrated by this board. I don't think he sucks, but I don't think he is a top 10 point guard either. Maybe he gets better, but the Lin fans get defensive even if you say he isn't a top 10 pg.
Can someone answer me this because this would avoid a lot of unnecessary posts. Mchale has said that Lin SHOULD NOT be a star ("homerun hitter". "Score 29 pts". "He's not going to be linsanity". What ever euphemism mchale wants to use). To the point where you agree with McHale that Lin should be benched in favor of Bev. Clutch says unless he plays like he did in OKC. Lin had 8 pts in the 4th quarter against OKC, how do you know that wouldn't have happened in Dallas (he also scored 14 pts in the 4th at Dallas several weeks back). But you are concurrently hating on Lin for not playing like a "star". So you want him to be benched and also play like a star. You want him to be a role player but also a star player.
You are completely wrong. Most Lin supporters do not overrate Lin. You are confusing maybe 3 vociferous trolls with the vast majority of posters who like his game. Lin supporters are upset at seeing Lin being underrated by many of the posters and McHale/Sampson. Benching Lin for Beverley for 15 minutes straight (doesn't he need rest?) when Lin was doing fine and the offense got stagnant is one example. Then, all the posters who just a month ago were arguing that McHale was just "resting" JLin and mocking everyone who said otherwise saying that Lin fans think resting Lin is hating Lin and that Lin fans want Lin to play for 48 minutes are now changing their tune and saying that Lin is sitting because Beverely is better than Lin at defense, so we should stick with Beverely if he brings "energy." Come on. And when Lin is hot and brings energy and he is sat by McHale, it's cuz everyone needs to rest and it's the right thing to do. Come on man. Gimme a break.
Straight up, they can't see what Lin brings cuz all his faults are magnified to the millionth degree and they are, if not hating, logically compromised. Most of them have advocated at one point or another that TD, Livingston, Beverley, Machado, pretty much EVERY PG other than Lin have played well and deserved to be on the floor but Lin. No, you will NEVER find anyone who defends Lin's minutes here outside of Lin supporters. Not one. We could pick up pretty much any pg, and they'd root for him and defend him when he inevitably takes time from Lin. He turns the ball over 4 times in a game where Harden turns it over 7 times, and Lin's turnovers are all they remember. He starts hitting his 3s and he's still a bad shooter. Why can't you guys just support your players?? At least admit that you are compromised. That Stephen A. Smith, or Bleacher Report, or insufferable LOFs have made it impossible for you to support him.
