The least obese state (Colorado) still has an 18.7% obesity rate. West Virginia is the highest at 33.5%. To qualify as obese, your BMI has to be above 30. That means an 5'10 guy weighing 210 is obese. I wonder how many people in this thread are obese without knowing it?

There seem to be a large number of "preppers" in the Houston area. I've seen multiple at local Wal-marts. Maybe Rodman can confirm op's land of origin with his recent visit to North Korea.
being fat is something you can control. unless you have a medical condition like an overactive thyroid, which i have a feeling is a lot less common than people claim it to be. being fat is a result of laziness. all you fat people need to put down the mcdonalds, eat a salad, and waddle your ass to a gym
Facts: 1. Houston has more Restaurants per Capita than any other City in the USA 2. Houston has more Restaruants that the whole state of North Dakota. 3. Outside of Las Vegas, Houston has more strip clubs than any other city.
Houstonians lack overall aesthetic appeal. Sure you can find fit and attractive people around. But it's painful to my eyes having to look at the general denizen of our city walking around.
The demographic of Houston makes it feel like its a big, small city. Not a small BIG city. The impression I get is, people don't care too much about fashion, being in shape, or outward appearance in general compared to NY, LA, London, Paris, Tokyo, etc. You won't see too many overweight people in those cities.
When I see an extremely fat person I wonder what the hell they eat in a day to get that fat. Can any fat people here on this site tell me like in a typical day what they eat and how much of it they eat to maintain that type of flabby mass? Do you basically just eat tubs of ice cream and fast food literally all day long? I just don't understand how you shovel that many calories in your pie hole over the course of a day. I barely have time to eat 2-3 times per day at most. I guess the biggest thing fat people do is drink sugary sodas and juice and gatorade and crap like that. Liquid sugar.
Its not surprising that a website that has so many young folks would look down with disdain at those who are overweight. Its easy and (so far) still acceptable since its seen primarily as a situation where the overweight do it to themselves. There are many reasons however why someone might be overweight. In my case, its thyroid issues and complications of diabetes. Message from the overweight back to the judgemental: 1. Fat, obese, or overweight folks are very well aware of their situation. You're not telling them something they already know so by bringing the subject up what you are telling them is either you think they are stupid and/or blind OR you are just being a prick. 2. In my case, I eat a (doctor ordered) balanced diet daily. I've lost weight in the past and for much of my life up until my late 30's I weighed around 180-200 lbs. As I got older, for a brief period of my life (2-3 years) I got too sedentary. Because of this, I now weight 300 lbs. Health problems have occurred and now because of a low metabolism I have had a lot of difficulty losing the weight. Its frustrating to me beyond belief but I haven't given up. I'm still in the fight. 3. Weight loss when tied to emotional problems is a huge national issue. When you see someone overweight, many times what you see is a person with depression. Ridiculing someone who's overweight due to depression related issues compounds the problem. In other words, you might be inadvertently be adding to the problem. 4. I've found one of the BEST ways to get someone off the couch and wanting to get thinner is to plan an activity or trip that is physical in nature some months in advance. Give them a goal to work towards so that they have a reward (besides good health) to work towards. 5. A question back to you. Why do you care? I mean unless its a situation where you're trying to help an overweight relative/friend for health reasons why even give it a second thought? Its baffling to me.
