To me, personally Kobe is the greatest. Will probably get so much rage for this, but still.. 81 points, being able to perform at such clutch performances, get a bone shaven off by a tendant, still manages to dominate, his instincts are insane. And yes I know that MJ is much better than Kobe in stats comparison, but you have to take in account the different eras that they played in. To me it comes down to passion and pure mentality, to me Kobe is the greatest.

True. Kobe played in a much tougher era for guards compared to MJ.

Jordan played in a more physical era that had far superior defensive bigs and allowed hand-checking.

In any case, this "tougher era for guards" is overblown. The current rules are designed to benefit perimeter players. Let's not forget that in this current era, a 40 year old Michael Jordan was able to average 20 ppg.

He scored 81 points on a team with a s***ty defense. And don't say Kobe's era was tougher. Both eras are different in their own way. All you who never grew up watching Jordan should seriously Shut up. And I mean if you didn't saw Jordan from 1990 to 98 or 85 to 98, SHUT UP. Watching his highlights means nothing. Kobe is great but not better than Mike. Michael was in another different kind if game and would make basketball his playground today or any other era.

Jordan Era – Average Team in League PPG: 105.01
Kobe Era – Average Team in League PPG: 96.84

    Jordan Era – Avg FG% 47.44 Avg SG FG%: 46.28 Jordan FG%: 49.7%
    Kobe Era – Avg FG%: 45.01 Avg SG FG%: 41.74 Kobe FG%: 45.4%

Don't know what Jordan at 40 have to do with anything. He was absolutely terrible with the Wizards. He was like the worst version of Monta Ellis and Rudy Gay without defense.

It shows you how easy it it is for perimeter players to score in this era. And as bad as Jordan played when he was 40 years old, his fg% was 44.5%. Kobe's career fg% is 45.4%.

Look at it this way. Wade has dominated in this era, right? Compared to Wade, Jordan was bigger, stronger, faster, more explosive, could jump higher, and had a superior post game. As good as Jordan was in the 80's/90's, he'd be far more dominant today.

Big deal, you act like this somethin we aint never seen before, when Jordan was 40 year old, 6 years older then Kome, he scored 43/10/3 wit 4 steals and a block.

****, when Jordan was a year older then Kome is now, he was named NBA LEAGUE MVP and won da scorin title.

Also I think when Jordan was like 38-39 he had a fifty sum point game.

Kome aint doin nothin new or dat impressive, really.

Why did it even have to be a choice? Why couldnt Kobe just get along with Shaq for the next few years? Instead he forced the Lakers hand and made them choose.

What? Everything done was perfectly legal. Unless you think the Hornets deliberately screwed up, in which case their acting skills are pretty convincing.

In Phil Jackson's book, Shaq started that feud which is why he got run out of town:

Then Shaq had the whole "how my ass taste" stuff. It's easy to see who the bad guy was here. Shaq ran himself out of town.

Obviously you never saw Jordan play, because...... MJ > Kobe in clutch performances, and it is NOT even close....... MJ > Kobe when it comes to instincts and it isnt even close..... Different eras???? Jordan played in a better era, when hand checking was allowed and teams had to defend..... as far as pure mentality goes..... MJ > Kobe......

Not sure what you are talking about.

The similarities with MJ and Kobe are work ethic and drive.

The difference is MJ simplified the game, shooting the highest percentage shot available at the very moment the defense breaks down.

Kobe does moves that breaks the defense down and has an ability to make a high percentage of very low percentage and/or difficult shots.

Jordan makes difficult shots as a last resort in reaction to an unsuspected defender, but was quite adept at avoiding the situation mostly in his later years relying on his patented post move.

This is an incredible video which displays the effectiveness of having a go to move and Jordan's multiple options and counter-moves available in reaction to defensive movement.

I figured Kobe would be one the first NBA guys to start utilizing GH secretagogues.
