and 1 turnover and 1 critical foul at key point in the game.

and really, if he really was in there for his D, why the hell was he playing D on mike james? why not put him on oj mayo if that's what he's in there for??

On who else will 6'1 Beverly play D if not on good old Mike James who was having a career night going for 8 points on 3-8 shooting? Bev cannot defend Mayo or Marion, those guys have a big height advantage over him. Harden just has to step up on D.

Mike James is certainly capable of heating up in a hurry as personally seen by Rockets fans, Chicago fans, and apparently Dallas fans. I thought Beverley did well in quieting him down early in the game when he was beginning to get loose. I don't recall who's assignment it was to hold Mayo though.

Lin is what he is, unfortunately.

And he's not versatile or good enough to adapt to the role we need out of the PG beside Harden.

He can put up numbers in a P&R fast-paced offense where he can dominate the ball, but that team won't go anywhere.

Also if "energy" is so important, why doesn't McSuccess ask Morey to trade Lin, Parson and Asik for 4 Energizer Bunnies + Picks?
Seriously, all this talk about "energy" smacks of "outhustling our opponents since I haven't got a clue on devising plays, LOL". McSuccess indeed.

Many scouting reports noted Harden as having all of the physical abilities to becoming an elite defender at the next level. My memory is hazy, but I recall seeing Harden play spectacular, hyper aggressive defense against...I believe it might have been Eric Gordon...when he was challenged and defensed well. He took it as a personal challenge and began swarming Gordon. So the ability seems to be there. Can he get to the point where he plays in an efficient way (including energy efficiency along with the great shooting percentages) to be able to maximize efforts on both sides off the ball a la Jordan, Duncan, Garnett...?

McHale confuses chandler and Delfino sinking threes with Beverley and TRob sparking some sort of comeback against the Mavs SECOND UNIT. so his reasoning is to keep JL who was shooting 50% and Asik who was cleaning up the boards like no tomorrow on the bench, and then worse continue to do so once his bench players were TIRED.

    flat out r****ded coach.

Though any defense is an improvement over what he's been doing thus far, with his playing style--of jumping into the paint disregarding his body--I fear any extra effort on defense will wear him out too quickly and cause injury.

80% of defense is effort and the other 20% positioing and footwork. Harden, for whatever reason (injury or lack of commitment) show very little of these. You can't hide someone on defense continuously by switching assignments. In the long term, the discrepancies in match-ups it will create will kill you.

JL sets up his teammates so much better than anyone else on the team (including harden) its not even funny. unbelievable trolling bashing JL for his performance this game. he was shooting 50% and actually better because he got robbed of that 3 pointer.

That's the different between a solid/good coach and someone like McHale. McHale has never, correct me if I'm wrong, admitted to any faults yet. It's all about balls being "sticky" and Lin will be "fine" or some odd thing about why Asik was watching from the bench. Down the stretch you need your best players to finish the game....right now best players includes Asik and Lin. McHale has lost so many games due with this type of nonsense.....
