i don't mind who he is going to start as our pg. just stick with it. if he believe beverley more, he should start him. listen to his post game interview. only thing he mentioned is energy regarding benching lin in 4th qt. what i can say.
before beverley, it is TD. now it is beverley. no need to check. remember we had tons of arguments of this type on this board whenever a game was lost.:grin::grin:
Let's go back to our last really BIG win, OKC. Was Harden going ISO? No, he was swinging the ball around and Lin made 2 big 3's. And yet just a few games later Lin is on the bench while the defensive wizard is preventing the Mav's from putting up 113 points. I am not trying to bash Beverly but benching 3/5 of your starting line-up in the 4th is a loser's strategy. Playing 2 rookies, one of whom has played like 4 games with the team, 15 minutes straight is a loser's strategy. Good coaches win close games because they use timeouts well, make the right substitutions and draw up winning plays. Think of the Pop Spurs or Jackson Lakers, they ALWAYS came out of a timeout with something that worked. Tonight we had I think two timeouts and ran two Harden ISO's. We are in the home stretch and McHale still doesn't have his rotations down. He has yet to show he can draw up good-plays out of the timeout. And we are still losing close games. I don't trust McHale at all at the end of games. I can only hope that we blow out teams by the 4th to keep it out of his hands.
Small sample size, but looking at today's game with Beverley playing 15min straight, I think McHale might just trust him more over Lin. (Yes I know same argument could be used for Asik, but I recall Morey mention in an interview that Asik needs rest every 8 mins or so) I mean even in that Spurs game that Harden sat out, Lin was taken out for some rest in the 4th, I don't really recall Lin playing 15min straight in any game. Not saying that's not ok if McHale thinks Beverley is the better player/better fit. I mean as the head coach it's within McHale's rights to start Beverley over Lin if he thinks Beverley deserves a higher level of trust. If that's case , I would like McHale to just make the damn switch and. I mean it seems that right now the 4th Q play time is Beverley's to loose. Blowouts either way, Beverley plays, close games like this, Beverley plays unless he's absolutely bombing it. If starting Beverley means seeing more of Lin in the 4th Q where he seems to play better, even my "LOF" side finds the agreement surprisingly agreeable (If Beverley starts, he'll probably need some break time in the 4thQ). It'll probably reduce confusion as well. I'm not very coherent right now, drunk talk, I'll probably regret this post tmr morning LOL.
This is pretty much pure speculation, but if McHale feels that Beverley plays better alongside Harden then I don't really mind Beverley is starting. We can move Lin to the 6th man role and have him take over as the facilitator for the 2nd unit when Bev/Harden takes a breather. That way, we can maximize their productiveness and all this confusion would come to a stop. In the 4th quarter we can have both Harden and Lin/Bev (depending on who's playing better) close the game out.
Just jumping in here.... but Harden has been the only constant in the backcourt this year and Bevs/TDs win shares are nothing to be excited about it. Basketball is a game about matchups.... you can make the argument all you want about making the opponent adjustment to OUR matchups... but it's been our game plan all year. Shoot inside the paint or shoot 3 pointers is the matchups we put on the floor and it will be the only way we can win this year or just get lucky. We are simply not talented enough yet to have any sort of set offense outside of penetration for inside the paint shoots or kicking it outside for the 3. Without Harden we would probably be a bottom 5-10 team.
We're not talented enough to have a set offense??? Then I guess most NBA teams and colleges never run sets. And btw, the penetration and kickout is something Lin excels at as well. Who was playing more constant today, Lin or Harden? Last game? Lin had a weak sauce beginning of the season, but barring McHales benching of Lin, he's been pretty darn good. I don't know how you can't see that we're a talented, albeit young team and I don't know how you can justify playing TD/Beverley over Lin in the 4th quarter.
We couldnt spread the floor last night on offense which gave Dallas free reign to patrol the paint and give harden hard time. Dmo isnt a consistent shooter and robinson cant shoot at all. We didnt force dirk to play any defense last night and when wright got on the floor all he did was watch harden and provide help D all game. Dallas played the fastbreak game last night and abuse the defensive weakness of the rockets. Also , ISO ISO ISO at top of the key is getting redundant. Either mchale needs to add in some real plays or harden needs to develop more moves on offense since his vertical is so low and he cant rise over players for jumpshots like a kobe or dwade.
He won 40 games with a terrible Orlando roster. Did doc become a better coach or did he just get better team? This is just another McHale needs to go because he isn't playing Lin thread. I don't think McHale is great coach, but this isn't a great team. We need to add some talent or guys like Dmo needs to get better.
not saying Mchale is a great coach but maybe this team is just not that good. we have a roster full of one-way or mediocre players. the combination of James harden and the 3 ball and high-faced offense make us look really good sometimes, but at the end of the day You are what your record says you are. a slightly above .500 team which is not THAT bad. all of our players are young likely get better and with that cap space? well, You can Dream.
More like were tired of losing games to the cellar dwellers of the league. Make no mistake, Dallas is still a pretty good team compared to the likes of the Wizards, Kings, Sixers. And it hurts more that we lose games to those teams compared to us losing this Dallas game.
We're the youngest team in the NBA. Losing close games is what inexperienced teams do. You people are ******* idiots.
8-17 in games within 8 points By differential power ranking and expected wins the Rockets are also the MOST underperforming team in the league The coaching has cost this team 5-10 wins with bizarre rotations, 4th quarter lineups, and zero adjustments Promote Finch to HC and fire the rest of them
Are you serious? Really? C'Mon. First of all Harden had 46 pts in that game. We dont even come close to beating OKC without him so your close game stuff wouldn't even be relevant. Phil Jackson and Poppovich are two of the best coaches EVER AND they have HOF players running the plays they call. When you have that the coach doesn't really need to call to many plays. The players know what to do. So lets not compare our YOUNG team and coach to them. We are the youngest least experienced team in the NBA. That is a fact that cannot be ignored. Most of these players have never been in these situations to know what to do. Young teams lose close games. Its part of learning and growing. Every good team in the final minutes of close games puts the ball in the hands of their playmaker and lets him make a play. Kobe, Pierce, Paul, Durant, Parker, James, Melo.. It's how it goes. You dont put the ball in your role players hands and expect them to make a play. Just doesn't happen. Your role player will get the pass from yor best player to hopefully make a open shot. We are still not a finished team either. We have no scoring in the post. So that makes it easier to defend us. So please hold your judgement until our team is complete. We are 2 games out of 6th in the west with this young team.... thats over-achieving so enjoy it and stop whining and being so critical of every little thing as if we are title contenders this year.
Finch would be in his first year as a head coach in the NBA, you dont think he would make mistakes? He wouldn't need a year or two to learn his team and the league? Just like the team has to grow and learn, so do the coaches.
