Asik alters shots at the rim and gobbles up rebounds. He IS our defense.

 

If Lin didn't have his contract, it's clear as day he wouldn't start under McHale. The coach does not believe in his starter. Bev is the same age as Lin, 24. He's not some 19 year old rookie with amazing potential. Lin deserved to finish the game. I was shocked Lin didn't come in at the 6 min mark with Harden. It makes zero sense. Zero. I don't get it. No other coach in the league would do that.

 

roared defensively?!?!? did you watch the 4th quarter? They hit every big shot, i think they shot 50% for the quarter.

 

How is Asik a strength in this situation?

 

So, is Asik's quote now the standard answer for why a person gets benched in crunch time despite playing well? :grin:

 

Rebound? Defense?

 

It's not Bev's fault...I'm calling this on Mchale...Bev played decent and was great for us in our come-back..but he defers to much to Harden thus no ball movement at the end...

 

How is having the 2nd best rebounder in the league, and one of the top defensive big men not a strength in any situation?

 

Don't be surprised. Mchale use exactly the same words on benching lin
with TD before. Exactly.

I won't disagree with that but how was that necessary in this circumstance? Mavs got lucky and hit a few 3's.... and the Rockets didn't lose because they didn't get a rebound or two at the end.

 

It is not coach telling Beverley to pass to Harden, he's just scared and timid. BOH says.

 

I wouldn't ask him why Lin or Asik wasn't subbed in. I would ask him why didn't he have any plays for his players to run to potentially facilitate scoring rather than relying ALWAYS on homerun-hero ball. Sometimes it works when someone like Chandler is hot and is lobbing up threes with a few seconds to go on the clock but sometimes it doesn't like when Delfino turns into Del-bricko or is comitting a turnover in the paint in this structure-less offense.

 

reminds me of the first game McHale coached after his extended leave of absence. It was against Dallas at home and Asik and Lin sat the whole 4th quarter and WE LOST. Some people never learn.

I know right, why not have the Lakers take out Dwight Howard to match up with smaller teams.

 

Are you ****ing high? There is only one elite defender on the team and that is asik. Beverly went to the Douglas school of defense; bounce around and wave your arms ( look intense ) but not do too much. Don't regurgitate whatbdiots on clutchfans say

 

I hate the fact that he used the word "thought". Make him sound clueless like doesn't know what he is watching. Seriously, you are an NBA coach. Don't use the word "thought" when describing what you see on the court.

 

Because what would have happened differently? Did we lose because they were driving to the hoop or we weren't grabbing rebounds?
