They're old in key positions (Dwight plays old since he's hurt) and have no bench.

The fact is when Kobe is passing they have a better chance of winning... The other problem is there is no Phil to keep Kobe contained and focused.

Until Kobe changes his attitude they will stay in the same situation they are end.

I agree he did win those 5 rings... With Phil being able to manage and control him..

I don't know about their chemsitry, I do know that a team who's main center is playing hurt, and who's primary wing defender are grandpas aren't likely to be very good defensively.

Not to mention that most of their bench are also grandpas, and really bad once at that. the Lakers dont' dare to play more than a 8 man rotation on most days despite them being super old

They're the second unluckiest team this season as far as injuries are concerned.

    AGE.

But quite frankly, everything seems to be wrong with them, despite the fact that they have many established individual players.

If they somehow pull out, and manage to squeeze into the playoffs, meaning they somewhat put down egos and differences to play as a team, they will be the team nobody wants to meet in the first round. Experience and skills matter.

Team work goes for both ends of the court and the attitude to play great defense starts with knowing that you will be part of the offense.

The days of having a Joe Dumars on your team to play great on both ends of the court are pretty much gone. You have to play team defense and who wants to play defense if #24 will shoot every time on the other end of the court.

    Agreee!

Kobe, after all these years in the league, he still doesn't 'get it.'

LeBron can easily win scoring title every season. Why isn't he? Lebron got it. Kidd understands it.

To play great defense, you have to share the ball on offense. Offense and defense are directly related to one another. More iso ball on offense, the worse the defense.

Some of you might say 'huh?'

Here Elton Brand who shared a little insight into isolation.
The more Kobe shoots, the more likely Lakers will lose. The older Kobe gets, the more his ego inflates and less BBIQ he has.

I agree with two things you stated... The chemistry and injuries...

But the problem is this... SA also has geriatrics and injuries so that leaves 2 other things... Chemistry and leadership.

Chemistry, which you can attribute to coaching. Inmates are running the asylum; they need a coach that the team respects and will listen to.

I agree. Howard has been great in the past, but he has not been good this year. I would be very scared to give him a max deal. He is not proving he deserves it with his play this year.

YES, even though Bryant will probably be gifted another All D award.

Kobe at his age is still better than 90% of the league. He's lost a step, no doubt, but the idea he's the reason the Lakers suck, is a bit haterish. And I hate the Lakers.

Chemistry is the biggest issue. Coaching is the next biggest issue, which is too bad because I sort of wanted D'Antoni to pick up their pace. I've always like his Suns teams.

Back when Kobe and Shaq were clashing, the both of them still go it done on the floor, they were arguably the best duo ever. Even if the both of them didn't really like each other. Say what ya'll will about Kobe, but the guy wants to win, and Shaq also had that drive. The current team is a mess because they don't play well together, and the coach is stubborn about the make up of the team.

That's really it, chemistry and coaching. Phil was able to fix the chemistry issue because both players wanted to be champions. I think that's what drives Kobe insane, is how little Dwight seems to care.

Dwight Howard sucks..if hes not getting the ball on a pick and roll..hes not scoring..Howard is garbage.Totally over hyped..Since hes been in the league he has not proven that he can step up his game or get any better..Same old crap...

You don't think Kobe is part of the problem? If he's part of the reason you win, he can be part of the reason you lose as well.
