Lance still gets on those tangents with Charlie, which makes it even more hilarious to me because Charlie is all-sports-all-the-time.

I think Lance makes decent money blogging and analyzing, and he is good at it. So it makes sense that he plays it up at times.

In other words, Goofball dumbed down Lance. Tangets are OK when you bring substance to the table, but too often all Goofball did was steer good conversations off the tracks trying to be funny. When they would interview people, I can't remember him ever being prepared to ask substantive questions. It was all stupid, distracting humor. I stopped listening to them together near the end at AM610.

I prefer the tangent stuff. Too much sports is boring, I don't need to hear people on the radio tell me their opinions non-stop when I have my own. I don't need to hear callers and their "expert" takes. Tangents are more fun to me. I loved John and Lance, I agree with whoever said that show can't be beat. For me, someone like Charlie P is almost unbearable.

exactly. I don't give a **** about the millionth conversation about what the Texans need in the draft- it's been picked apart to death and every station has the same talk over and over (some more insightful than others). Tangents lighten up sports radio, and that doesn't refer to "frat" humor like they have on 610 (women, booze, etc.).

Speaking about the frat humor... I had to un-follow the 790 Facebook feed. Holy crap did they post some lame attempts at link-bait using t*** and ass.

Leaving a high-profile TV gig to try and become the latest dime-a-dozen local talk-radio HACK on a station that didn't even register in the ratings was probably not the wisest career decision he could have made.

I enjoy it when sports show hosts go off on tangents sometimes. Sometimes there is just not enough sports news to talk about all the time. Sean Pendergast has a good sense of humor and Granato plays well of him, similar to how he played off of Lance. They are a good team and I will listen to them, just as I will listen to Lance and Charlie sometimes. It just depends on what topic is being discussed and whether I am interested in it.

bad timing for me. I usually just listen to 790 but recently i've found myself switching over to sirius more and more...mostly because jackson, for whatever reason, is just becoming more and more annoying. I wonder if he actually believes the crap he tries to argue or he is just purposely being a troll. And if he is just being the opposite side of the argument for argument sake, I wish he would actually be able to make a decent argument and not just be completely throttled by Adam.

I think a Lance + Clanton show would be the best combo on the radio.

Charlie is by far my favorite but I think he's best going solo.

Having Lance and Charlie on the same show is like trying to play Aaron Rogers and Drew Brees in the same backfield.

Man I guess I was one of the few listeners of Afternoon Delight. Clanton and Wessling had good chemistry and I found myself switching to them when CP and Lance get too analytical. No reason to listen to 1560 anymore.

I am tired of hearing the same thing every day. Matt Shaub is not elite. We need to trade Shaub. The WRs suck. The Texans need an inside linebacker. How much can you talk about the same thing over and over.

I would rather them talk about anything else.

I'm sure they would to but that's all the stupid callers want to talk about.

I don't think dropping Clanton and Wessling is any big loss, but shifting Garnato & Pendergast to the afternoon will hurt. Clanton seems like he has potential to be really good, but he hasn't seemed to grow into anything special with his numerous opportunities. Wessling was just out-of-his-element trying to do sports radio. He doesn't know enough about sports (nor care to) and I just don't find him funny.
I was worried that Granato would just flail without Lance, but he & Sean have grown on me lately. I've found myself sticking with 1560 on the morning drive more recently, as I am one of the few that can't stand Adam Wexler.
I agree that is might be the death knell for 1560, though, as I just don't see people in Houston tuning in to the national shows from Czaban or Dan Patrick.

Might just be me, but I really enjoyed listening to the Dan Patrick show when they used to broadcast it a few years back. Maybe it was because it was novel to me as I'd never listened to his show before.

Tell me about it. I'm tired of hearing about Schaub and the minutiae of the NFL draft and salary cap. It's just too much, almost as bad as listening to someone discuss the Astros. Give me some relevant Rockets and NBA talk for a little while and I'm done. It feels like I'm being force-fed the NFL even though I'm full. It's hard for me to listen to In The Trenches now. They should reduce it back to one hour until training camp or find a way to freshen it up. I like Koch & Kalu a lot but they are running on fumes. Time for a break.
