Houston don't need him as much as a all star power foward Kevin love summer 2014? Would fit perfectly with this current group Face it even if the rockets throw all the money at d Howard, I doubt he would come to houston because of his personality... He's like Lebron James loves attention loves being on the spotlight, what better team to play for than LA or New York? He is not going to houston As a rockets fan I really want an all star power forward and the rockets already have a group of young foundational players, plus 1 all star/superstar
LOL Only in GARM where a player missed 25 games in 9 regular seasons is labeled as "injury prone". Only in GARM people wouldn't want a player who was DPOY 3 out of last 4 years. Only in GARM people wouldn't want a bonafide superstar. Yes, his personality sucks but don't let it blind you and become biased to the player on court.
Larry Sanders yes Demarcus Cousins maybe (still has game, young, but issues) Dwight Howard no (declining, aging, whining, has issues)
Those who want Howard are silly. On every DH12 rumor thread I read, I'd say 20-30 percent of users want him in a Rockets uniform. I have to ask myself, why?? I understand how good and athletic he is, I love his potential too. But he is a clown, drama queen and such an attention w****. The fact of the matter is Howard can't shoot free throws and doesn't have much of a good offensive the way people give him credit. If he could just stop being such a b***h and stop with all his attitude problems and stay healthy then maybe I'll want him. But he doesn't. Dwight is a punk, I seriously don't think he would fit here. I prefer Asik, he might not be that much of a great center, but he's a good defensive player and a rebounding machine and a good piece to play with Harden. And he is 26. Face it, clutchfans. Dwight's a b***h with attitude problems. We don't want that here.
Harden likes to drive to the basket, Howard likes to camp under the basket. If you think Howard is drama now, he will be the diva in Houston.
Yeah, IF that's how he actually think, then of course, why not, you don't even need to trade Asik, just bite the Luxury tax for a couple years while your a huge contender. and have 2 of the top 5 centers in the league. I just don't think that is likely to happen though, because the odds of the Lakers being able to put together a good team every year is still pretty good because.... they.... are.... the... (insert random curse or other words here) ...Lakers...
It would be like Yao/Dikembe "Lite" I'd love to see Dwight actually play hard though. When was the last time he played like a man? I want him, but I haven't seen the guy play hard really at all the last couple seasons. I haven't caught tons of games, and know before he quit last season he "suffered it out and did it for the team." - I just see him as a bad locker room presence, but that could totally change if Houston was the right fit. Harden's "tuck in your shirts" attitude is contagious on this team. If Dwight were to join this team he needs to "tuck in his shirt" & "put on his big boy pants."
Actually want or don't want depend on how much His numbers are on decline and he's been playing through shoulder pain this season. He relies mostly on his athleticism, he is 28 years old by the end of this year, and I doubt he's good work ethic. He is still a decent player though max salary could be ridiculous.
It's not about missed games, it's how his body hasn't recovered from shoulder and spinal injuries. Past performance is never a guarantee of future performance. How many games did Yao Ming miss before he got his first major injury? His personality doesn't just "suck". Kobe's personality sucks. Mj's personality REALLY sucks. Howard's a diva who never takes any responsibility for his actions. He campaigned for Orlando to bring in his buddy Jameer Nelson, now he's talking about how his teammates were people nobody wanted. He said he loved SVG, privately campaigned to get him fired, and then left Orlando anyway after the team catered to his demands. Not only that, he screwed us over twice, he resigned with Orlando just to prevent us from getting him mid-season, and then he publicly stated he'll just go play out his contract and then go to another team if we traded for him in the offseason. And now you want that guy to sign with the Rox and say stuff like how he always wanted to play here, he always looked up to Htown greats? Where's your pride? I know I'm sounding like a complete Howard hater here but I'm not. Prior to his injury I thought he was the 2nd best player in the NBA after LBJ. But he's clearly not his former self, and I've never heard of an injury prone guy making it back 100%. D-will hasn't missed all that many games, but he's clearly dropped off. Before he was neck and neck with CP3, now he's not even in the top 5. And he doesn't want to be here anyway. Never get a guy who doesn't want to go to your team, he'll never give his all even if you throw gobs of money at him.
You are comparing apples and oranges with Dwight and Yao or Dwight w/ Dwill; different injuries and different players. Look, I don't like D12, the diva, the player off the court, and you have all the valid arguments for not liking him but despite coming back from back injury, he is still the top center in the league. Maybe not as dominant as before, but he is still a fearsome protector of the paint. This is where most of championships are won: in the paint! If Dwight is willing to sign here as a FA, while losing 30 millions, without a shadow of a doubt, Morey will ink him. There is not a FA on the horizon who has the potential to make us a true contender than D12. I don't hold grudges against any player who can bring us a championship and neither should you.
Wanting to pay a lying two faced under achieving diva 20M+/yr , instead of paying 8M to a solid team player who has all star potential and spending the rest of your cap space on a pf upgrade... ....well that's just silly.
