I actually would like it. I know we have only a sliver of a chance against Spurs, Clippers, or OKC, but OKC would probably be the most entertaining. I'd love to watch Harden in a playoff series against the Thunder.
After last year, I just want to get in the playoffs before worrying about matchups. Call me old school, but I worry about jinx threads like these.
if it's the Spurs the games will be relegated to NBATV Clippers, better OKC, best matchup wise they are all tough, so might as well hope for the storyline series
I don't see us beating OKC, Lob City, or the Spurs in a series this season. That said, with OKC playing so inconsistantly at times, and with Harden potentially going super sayian on them, OKC would easily be the most entertaining first round matchup for us, and it goes at least 6 games IMO
This. And while I don't think we'll make it out of the first round, we'll give a heck of a scare to whoever we play. Teams with a lot of offensive firepower are always dangerous, and we've got as potent of an offense as you'll find in the league.
Anyone forget that we got thrashed in those first two games against the Thunder? The Thunder simply have too much talent. I'll take a matchup against the Grizzlies, or even the Clippers, over one of the two teams in the West that have a legitimate shot at the championship.
I really could care less how exciting a playoff matchup can be. I just care about having the best chance to win. If SA is going to be hobbled, then I want to play them. Otherwise, I want the Clippers among the top 3. Clippers have the least talent, least coaching, and least playoff success over the years. And they're more reliant on one player, CP3, than the other teams. No one in hindsight penalize you for winning a playoff series against an injured team, nor reward you for losing a series to the eventual NBA champs. You are either a winner or a loser. And I prefer the Rockets win in the first round, regardless of circumstances.
Wow, that would make for a great legacy story. An impromptu team cobbled together by chance and somehow, manages to use the pieces let go to win it all. OKC and NYK fans will implode. It also helps that our style of play is easy to appreciate and market to the hoops masses. Making it to playoffs gives us a meaningful experience whatever may come so we really don't lose either way. Barring all that, whatever team beats us is leaving with a limp.
Rockets vs. Spurs: 4-1 Spurs Thunder: 4-3 Thunder Clippers: 4-3 Rockets Grizzlies: 4-2 Grizzlies Nuggets: 4-0 Nuggets Warriors: 4-1 Rockets Shows what I think of the Nuggets. Scurred
Playing against OKC in the playoffs could be really exciting, but please, let that happen in the 2nd round. We need to build up some experience first.
i'd rather see us play the clips or spurs in the first round. If we could get up to #6 and play the clips, and lakers get to #7 and play the spurs. Possible home court in second round against the lakers. I expect OKC to claim the 1 spot by seasons end.
wth? Switch the nuggets with OKC. spurs: 4-0 spurs thunder: 4-0 thunder Grizzlies 4-3 Grizzlies Nuggets: could go either way tbh Warriors: Rockets
Exactly, I don't undersand the logic behind people wanting play them...they are the WORST position by position matchup. Spurs are scarier because they have been doing this for so long...but dear god we do not want to play OKC. They will turn us inside out.
McHale isn't a great coach to start with AND has ZERO playoff experience. If we do make it to the playoffs, are chances of getting out the first round are extremely slim. Not trying to be a Debbie Downer, just trying to be the realistic guy on this board.
Nobody wants to see poor Utah...sad. At least we know we'll make the playoffs now  West (1) Spurs - (8) Lakers (2) Thunder - (7) Rockets (3) Clippers - (6) Warriors (4) Grizzlies - (5) Nuggets East: (1) Heat - (8) Bucks (2) Pacers - (7) Celtics (3) Knicks - (6) Nets (4) Bulls - (5) Hawks Is what I'm picturing. Why does the West seem to always have the best match-ups?
