I think Brooks is actually a good candidate to backup Harden as others have said. Once our playoff positioning is more secure we're gonna wanna get away from playing Harden 40 minutes on any night. Brooks gives us the opportunity to let him average 32-34mpg the remainder of the regular season.
What are the chances that Morey wanted Brooks in the Thomas Robinson trade, but took on Garcia and Honeycutt to make the trade work for financial reasons, with the contingency that Sacramento released Brooks so that we could pick him up?
Whoever has the hot hand. I think Beverley should be the default backup. Brooks can come in when we need a shooter to jump start the offense.
It will have to be Beverley Brooks Harden Delfino Lin instead, because Delfino can't guard 5s and Harden can't guard 4s.
I could maybe see them play Brooks at pg and move Lin to sg. That would be a pretty fast backcourt, could be fun to watch. I like Beverly though, he reminds me a lot of Brooks, but with better rebounding skills. The kid is like an energizer bunny.
WHY NOT BOTH 4 guard rotation: lin, beard, AB, Bev Delfino will get minutes at the 3 or 4 since we love small ball so much rotation will probably be cut down to 3 for playoffs. either AB or Bev will emerge. games will tell who
To me, Brooks is Lin insurance. If Lin's in one of his shooting funks and can't get in the paint, that's when Brooks can come in and shine with the 2nd unit. Brooks at his best is your typical Jason Terry type of guy. He can break defenses down and shoot unconsciously. When used correctly, he can be a difference maker in the playoffs. I predict the Rockets bring Brooks along slowly, but that he'll be playing impactful minutes towards the end of the season and in the playoffs.
We like to make fun of McHale's small ball, but you really haven't seen small ball until you have seen Adelman's 3-PG small ball experiment this season. Barea+Rubio+Ridnour. The funniest part? Barea was the PG and Rubio was used as the spot-up shooter. Yeah, you want to talk about the one way to out-dumb Lin as the spot-up shooter. Needless to say, the MIN fans on the forums were neither happy nor gentle with Adelman on that one, neither happy nor gentle at all...
Lol what a joke. You're going to get a player who has proven he can score 20 over the course of a season and actually holds the franchise record for most 3s made in a season and just mothball him in favor of a player who hasn't proven a ****ing thing. AB is a terrible, ****ing terrible, defender. But its not like Lin and Beverly are anything special in that area either. Play them both, see who produces. Just because Beverly beat out Douglas doesn't mean he's untouchable. Rockets don't play d anyway, it doesn't matter.
