*sigh* I think I've changed my mind. I'm going to wait for the reviews on this one before I buy it. Too many "not too sure about that" moments for me when thinking about it to support it out of the gates.
I have to freaking wait until 12 A.M. Pacific time to download and play, which means that I won't start downloading until early tomorrow morning. Not sure when I'll get to first play it.
9 P.M.? I'll start waiting for an email... Edit: Doesn't seem to be available...I'll give it five minutes, and then it's off to bed.
Sorry. 9 P.M. Well... that's if you pre-ordered on Origin. Did you? EDIT: Doesn't even matter. Everyone is hammering the origin client... can't download anything... I should have known this would happen.
Sucks. I had an Amazon gift card, so I order through them. How long will this take to download do you think?
Oh, Amazon will release their keys at midnight pacific time because they are based in Seattle. Regardless its a 12GB download. On my 2megabytes/s connection it will take me an hour and 45 minutes.
Way to go EA. Great launch. Can't download, can't do anything. Even after hundreds of thousands of people demanded a preload to avoid a day one server collapse... I just hate the mentality of punishing every single legitimate user just to prevent piracy. But oh wait, they didn't prevent piracy. Double whammy.
This...EA....is why you let users PRELOAD your games! This is what Maxis posted on Reddit....ofcourse, most people aren't able to get through to download yet. Basically, people are getting emails saying the game is ready to download. Then they are allowed. Doing it in segments or something....
I hate EA so much. Well, looks like I am pirating every single one of their games from here on out. If they are going to punish their legitimate users I might as well be a pirate.
******* it why isn't this game on steam? EA and their Origin sucks. So slow to install. It's gone from 11% to 21% installed over about 10 minutes. It's "processing large files".
RedRedemption, raging against the machine: Two hours later: I don't think your anti-EA strategy is going to be very effective...
All the hate dissipates after actually playing the game. I will offer a word of warning for everyone though, EA's servers are having huge problems syncing cities and you might lose hours of work. Play the tutorial, hold off on marathons until EA's servers are a little more stable.
Didn't really follow this, but wow, can't believe they didn't offer a preload. That's more or less mandatory at this point (and we can all see why). Server stuff sounds like a mess too (prevents you from even playing in "single player" too I think?). I do agree that most will probably forget about this in a few weeks/months (unless EA is still having problems).
