Ok so, I am reading through this and some of you just need stick to:

    "I like ...or..."I no like".

Failing miserably trying to breakdown the math and logic behind the deadline trade and signing brooks.

Morey already said he wanted Garcia for depth, and its been discussed here several times how his contract can be used as a trade tool. He is a veteran (which we need), a good teammate, and shoots the 3. Exactly what we need on our bench. Injury protection and will help groom and be good locker room guy for playoff run.

Morey wanted T-rob and then also decided to work the trade where he got bench assets and trade chips in addition. (one of the reasons morey is ahead of the curve).

I believe there is logic behind signing brooks to a 1 year contract with team option. To use to work a trade to make the money match if needed. Although I do not know the details.

You can no longer sign free agents to balance outgoing salaries for trade purposes like the mavs did with jason kidd.

Point is nothing is done arbitrarily like it is with other GMs. Every single move and player acquired by morey has been analyzed and serves some sort of purpose. Hes the guy that makes you take a random player back in a trade to get the deal done, and you dont know why. Then a year later we understand why he did it.

They reached a buyout agreement. There is no such risk. Whoever picks him up off waivers, OTOH...

Maybe they wanted to play him? SAC has already played Uglas in non-garbage time, much to the indignation of "Free Jimmer" SAC fans.

So you do understand then that the buyout and contract we are going to give Brooks was all part of the trade agreement, don't you?

I'm still a bit confused. Could you clarify a bit more? Is this even allowed or was it a wink-wink deal. I apologize if my failure to understand is related to CBA ignorance. Also, when will we know what's up? How much longer should we expect to wait after the 5 P.M ET deadline?

It is not allowed, and he has no clue if there is a wink wink agreement.

Our friend basketballholic seems to believe wink wink deals happen all the time.

IF the Rockets got caught doing as he suggests they are doing they can be HEAVILY penalized (google Joe Smith and Minnesota Twolves for reference) and I just dont see Morey doing that.

Brooks had agreed to sign with the Rockets as long as he cleared waivers, so unless he changes his mind for some reason and backs out he is back

I don't know if we'll end up with AB or not, but if we do, an already entertaining season just got more entertaining.

If all he does is handle the rock, space the floor, hustle, and drain some open looks it'll be a net positive.

Mchale would never be a part of something like that.

Wow, in three years he managed to go from our number 1 option, to our number 15 without a major surgery. When was the last time that happened to a player in their 20s?

Has nothing to do with Mchale.

Morey is the guy who wont risk losing 5 first round picks at the least.

I feel VERY safe saying Kevin Mchale has absolutely zero influence in Morey's cap deals.
