Imagine Tony Parker winning a championship without Tim Duncan. That's the reality you're looking at if you bring in Chris Paul.
I'd go with Dwight. Not sure having Paul and Harden together on the floor would be as effective as having someone athletic in the post who can catch and dunk ie be an asset off the PnR.
I believe this also. Paul will stay in LA and DH will try to get to Brooklyn but will end up staying in LA.
i dont think a player as Paul at this point in his Career would be able to defer to Harden. it has been mentioned that CP3 is a ball dominating PG. I dont think Paul's style of play with fit well along side of Harden at this stage. Because of that I think Morey will go else and preserve cap space for 2014. I think the moves next year will be to add a little more depth at the 2 and the 4/5. I am sure he'll reach out to Dwight/J.Smith and CP3 to see if they can come to Houston but I dont think he will be 100% commited to those. Out of the 3 I think Dwight and Jsmith have a better chance than CP3 to come to Houston. i would rather save the cap space for 2014 and make a offer on RFA -George Paul on a huge back loaded contract And Larry Sanders with the same Poison pill contract. the 2014-2015 line up would be. Lin/Harden/Beverly Harden/Parson P. George/Parson Donut/T.Rob/Parson/White Asik/Sanders I think this would be a very good 2 way team.
I'd make a call to CP3, but that's about it. I know Morey will go hard after Dwight, but I'm going to have a hard time cheering form him as a Rocket, too much of a diva, not known for a hard work ethic and I guy with his size and athletic ability should be an all time great, instead he seems like wasted talent, not too mention if he will ever be 100% healthy. I like what I've seen from Asik, I've seen improvement in both Lin and Parsons, Harden has exceded anything I had imagined and I love the potential I've seen in DMo with Trob backing him up. For a change, I just want to stand pat and just add some more bench, maybe a backup center. If no improvement in DMo and TRob next season, then you have cap room to go after a better PF than what is in this class. How long is Parsons under contract? We are going to have to pay him at some point.
Our biggest problem is 4. Paul over Lin is upgrade, but doesn't solve our defense problem and rebounding problem
CP3 is not coming here so why bother mentioning it. Sure our team would be much better with him, but lets be reasonable. With Dwight Howard yeah we have a chance and if I was him I would move to Houston, but does Morey want someone who can't hit free throws?
Only the ill-informed are threatened. Unless you address the Rocket's greatest need...a good defender and shot blocker at the 4th to help out with D the team isn't going anywhere even with CP3? The Rockets don't need CP3, why because this team can put up 110 points easily on any given night. CP3 is NOT going to make this team any better at the defensive end. Howard has the greatest potential, if given the chance, but a LA clone is the ideal fit for this team....great post up player and solid defender.
The 4 is not a need, they have 2 very good young PF's there is no reason to waste more money at that spot. IMO the team doesn't really need starters but it would be nice to sign Howard and make Asik a backup. They'd combine to be the best defensive center tandem in the league.
They do NOW....but down the road you might be right. Houston is essentially bottom feeder in terms of block shots....
Well when half the year your PF's were Patterson and Morris, that'll happen. Moving forward rebounding and defense shouldn't be a problem from the 4.
Perhaps....good team defense starts from the center. Asik is great with almost everything but he's no shotblocker.....a solid defender at the 4th spot will make Harden's and Lin's life that much better.
CP3 vs Dwight...one train of thought is you just take the better player which is CP3. Most times I'd agree. BTW, Harden would be the one deferring, not Paul if he came here. But PG/SG overlap is the toughest overlap to deal work out IMHO. Plus the impact of a top player in the paint on both sides gets bonus points. I think I'd have to take Dwight, even though that sounds wrong. But I'd say there's 0% CP3 comes here. I used to think there was a maybe 50% chance of Dwight leaving but now it feels around 10%. I think there's still time for another Laker drama implosion.
