Live phone negotiations at CSN headquarters.

CSN: Hey Uverse, this is CSN again.

Uverse: Sup CSN, how it's going?

CSN: Eh, not bad. See Harden's 46 the other night?

    Uverse: Who is Harden?

CSN: He's our new superstar Rockets player! He is SO efficient! His TS% is through the roof!

Uverse: Oh... okay. Nope, never heard of him.

CSN: So, we're still looking for $3.40 per... what do you say?

    Uverse: Nah...

    CSN: Call you tomorrow?

    Uverse: Later.

There was a blurb at the very end of an Astro's article in the Chronicle Saturday where Mr. Lunhow said they hoped to have a deal done by the first real game.

    Doesn't mean much.........

Agreed. The Rockets games were something that we pay for and now haven't received any compensation for no longer having access to.

So, Comcast keeps calling me about my bill and equipment I still have from them(recently switched to Direct TV before the season).

So they called Friday asking when I was going to take of the bill, I kept telling them when they stopped blacking out rockets games on DirectTV(fully intend on paying the bill at the last minute).

So, today when I check my email, low and behold... an e-mail from Comcast. They are pretty much begging me to switch back. Offered to pay my entire bill owed, 3 free Rockets games, And like $40-$60 off all my cable bills for the next 7 months.

I thought it was humorous and been laughing all day about it.

I'm getting ready to move into an apartment in late April and my cable choices are Uverse and Comcast. Obviously, I really want to be able to watch the Rox, but I've heard Comcast's product is subpar to Uverse. I'd appreciate any feedback to help make my decision or any suggestions on how to use it as leverage on comcast to get the prices way down.

Of course you should do what you want to, but I am not going back to Comcast again under any circumstances. Comcast is infuriating. And if you have read through this thread, you have seen that there is no small number of people around here who they have infuriated. It would be nice to see the Rockets, but if I have to get Comcast in order to do it, then it is an easy decision for me to make. I will go Rocketless.

Agreed, I am done with Comcast. I'm not MUCH happier with ATT, but I still won't go back to the worst corporation in the US. I wish Google would bring Fiber to Houston, then I would go with that for internet and a satellite provider for TV.

    First time, long time.

As a lifelong Rockets fan like many of you guys I agree this whole Comcast thing is an absolute abortion. To steal a comment I saw somewhere online it's the worst thing to happen to Houston sports since the Oilers left town but yet it seems like it gets little to no attention. Not sure why that is. Maybe it's cause the Astros stink and the Rockets were a bit of an unknown product coming into the season, or everyone is too preoccupied with the highly talented yet grossly underachieving football team, or sadly people just don't care about their local teams like they used to. I couldn't imagine this happening in the 90's glory days.

I'm a Direct TV guy and have sent enough whining emails to them they finally have people calling me. A very nice and patient man listened to me b**** for a good solid 10 minutes. Agreed with all my points. Understood my frustration. But in the end all he could say is they are working hard to get a deal done and they hope I will be able to watch the Rockets/Astros soon but if I switched he understood.

Sadly if things don't change soon Comcast is going to win which I believe has been their plan all along. Why not hold out as long as possible and get as many of us suckers to convert. I've told the wife to start clearing the DVR of the approximate 1,000 hours of Bravo shows she has recorded cause if a deal isn't done by the end of the first week of the baseball season we are switching. I already know I'm going to regret it. While I've never had Comcast I was once a Time Warner customer and those guys were terrible. From what I've heard the only thing that has changed is the name.

It's sad that we are missing out on a highly entertaining Rockets season. I've never missed this many games in my life, hell even in college where we didn't get the games on cable we'd go to the sports bar at least once a week to watch. Sure I'd love to hit the sports bar for every Rockets game but let's just say my responsibilities have vastly increased over the years. While I have zero expectations they will do anything in the post season it would be fun to watch the building blocks of what looks to be an up and coming team come together which you really can't see watching a box score update on your phone. Being a life long Houston sports fan is hard enough and all this does is add to the misery.

Will Time Warner ever get the Rockets? I have not seen their name in it as a company that will follow directv/dish.

I have comcast and had it for years. I have never had a problem with them. I'm ticked off I can't get comcast at my new place.

I will likely be moving soon and one of my requirements is that I have to be able to get Comcast if I choose to. Sad, but I have no faith in those who are working on this deal to get anything done.

Anytime I've had a problem with them, they've made it right and then some. our bill right now is crazy low for what we're getting. I have personally had far more troubles when I had Dish or DTV.

To be fair, I didnt switch from Comcrap because their product was no good....I rarely had any issues with the actual signal and equipment(tho I must admit Direct's equipment is better). What I had issues with was that I got everything I had with Comcrap, but at half the price from Direct....even after all the discounts are gone, it is *still* cheaper by quite a bit than Comcast.

Alot of folks seem to take issue with the customer service, and I may not be the best person to ask since I had a business line with them and I called my business contact when I had issues with anything from Comcast, but I rarely had any problems that weren't handled fairly promptly.

With all that said, I will not switch back to Comcrap because of this......I will continue to download the games as soon as they are available and get my Genie upgrade from Direct in two weeks when I am eligible. (5 simultaneous recordings at one time FTW!)
