Jeremy Lin's weakness is partially lack of skill, but the major thing is confidence. If he believes he can beat a point guard based on size and sometimes skill, then he will. But if he believes a point guard he's facing is better than him, it's already game over. Once he gets his confidence he will start being more consistent.
Why start a thread for this? His weakness is his youth he will get better. He actually plays better against the better teams so yeah he isnt beating Chris Paul.
Why are NBA fans so r****ded? Every BBall message board is full of....'he sucks', 'let's trade...', etc. etc. etc. Be happy you have one of the top 5 young PG in the league. Beside Irving, what other young PG would you rather have?
Except that we don't seem to learn and get better with each repeat of the cycle. Or maybe we are, but the progress is so slow that I can't see it just yet. The Rockets are awesome, and although we've had some frustrating losses, we've been rewarded with some amazing and exciting basketball. How much fun was yesterday's win?
Don't get me wrong....I very much like Lin.... But I would definitely not rank him as a Top 5 young Point Guard in the NBA. Steph Curry Jrue Holiday Russell Westbrook Kyrie Irving Derrick Rose (when healthy) Damian Lillard Ty Lawson and MAYBE John Wall, Kemba Walker, and Rubio, but probably not. But still...Lin is not in those first 7's class. At least not until further notice.
Confidence is no an issue for him. He does not have shooter's mentality. The one that shoot 1- 13 but still very much take next next one with 2 people guard him even everyone believe the team will have no chance most of the time they do that but they still believe it will get it in that mentality. People get high praise for doing that when it get in, and even if it get in 20%, people will only remember the one that get in. And if they can avg out to close to 45%, they are close to the star in the league. But do you want him to have that mentality? His best assest is his speed and fighter mentality. If he loss the speed, he currently can not recover from it. Maybe with time pass, he can get some deadly moves that does not rely on the speed, than his offense game will be more consistent. Not sure about Irving. He is great offensively. I would like to see the defense level. But Robio, Lilliard, Holiday, even Wall show great ability. But it still will take few off season to see how much each are willing to work on their own games, and how quick they can improve.
Um no, I would not want a 29% 3 pt shooter on our team, no matter how great he is at passing. Rondo is 27 years old, and an even worse shooter believe it or not. Holiday is a turnover FACTORY.
point guards shouldn't be shooting 18 times. almost certain lin could easily average 19 with 18 shots. that's not the point of the point.
