I have been giving this a lot of thought. I want to appeal to other Lin fans that reduction in his minutes may not be all bad.

First of all he has started every game this year, is banged up, and could use some minutes off for the final stretch and playoffs.

Second his stats are what they are, 12 and 6 with Harden dominating the ball ain't that bad. It wasn't what I envisioned certainly at the start of the year wih KMart. I still say with KMart he would be averaging 15 and 8. Anyways his stats are not going to change much one way or another regardless of how he plays the rest of the regular season.

Third the most important thing for Lin's development and the development of the team as a whole is to make the playoffs and gain that experience against SA or OKC in a 7 game series. I expect the Rox to win at least one of those games and possibly two (which would be a great confidence booster for everyone). Harden will bring it in the playoffs, the bigger question is will Lin be bringing it or will he be passive and deferring. Even if McHale wants to marginalize him, will Lin allow himself to be marginalized in the heat if the playoffs? I personally don't see it. Call me crazy but despite his pedestrian play this season, I think he can be a Carlos Beltran type of player in the playoffs... the packed arena and national coverage are precisely the stage in which Lin plays his best. The playoffs are a different beast, success in the playoffs will really garner far more attention than what he has or hasn't been able to do this far. I hope the Rox will make the playoffs, regardless if Lin is having his mins reduced or is even coming off the bench as a 6th man type player (which isn't the worst thing in the world either being leading the second unit) during the season, in order to get there. If he completely disappears in the playoffs, well.... We'll all deal with it then.

Lin has made more than enough positive impact on the Asian American community and the world, even if he retires today and not play another minute in the NBA. He is beyond the game of basketball. Sure LOFs want him to play well and score points, but to say Asians need an athlete for others to respect them is absurd.

Beverly is a much better player then Lin will ever be.

Please, please trade Lin back to the Knicks for Felton and Kidd.

Everyone wins. The Rocket fans get rid of Lin and LOFs.

Lin will be in a team where the fans love and support him.

Couldn't be because Harden was injured -- and playing like it -- last night, could it?

Seriously, the thing that makes me the most pissed out of anything on this forum is seeing people with new tags (summer of 2012 and on) talk about how McHale's offense isn't PG-centric and act as though they know anything about the Lowry/Dragic situation. We know you love Lin, but don't make up **** to support your OPINION.

All last year, the only thing we would hear is that McHale doesn't do anything beside let his PG run the offense. The entire year. Every game. Every thread. Now we have revisionist history about something that they weren't even privy to watching. It is utterly pathetic.

They want him at 8.3+ million a year? I highly, highly, highly doubt that. I think Jeremy is a starting point guard in the league, he is just flat out overpaid relative to what he brings from a basketball stand point. Now, he makes the organization a lot more than that off of non-basketball related items, but as a fan of the Rockets, I would prefer more wins/competitive basketball.

Well this year Harden is the "PG" in his offense. McHale's offense is basically D'Antoni style and Harden is the "PG" that is integral to the system. Lin's not playing the role of a traditional point, which has been discussed ad nauseum.

trade jlin,t-jones,garcia and royce white to Brooklyn nets Deron Williams,Nets will be happy w/ this trade,Rockets have an instant legitimate PG and Jlin will flourished on PJ Carlisimo's watch, and for all the rockets fans(they said they are fans since they keep bashing their own player) will be happy too.Petition the owner and the GM to make this trade works next year for sure both sides will be very amenable fot this trade

D'antoni's system looks NOTHING like McHale's. But I doubt I could convince anyone of that due to their extreme lack of knowledge regarding BB philosophy. D'antoni literally put the ball in his PG's hands and let him run high/mid S&R allllll game long. D'antoni likes to fill the weak side corner with his 4, we like to run a big out top for a swing man/drag screen, while filling the strong side corner.

We run with ANY of our 1, 2 or 3 taking the ball up the court. We run the ball with passing a lot more than with dribbling. We have a legitimate 5 who makes rim runs and almost always have someone in the weak side post, instead of running them off the elbows for fade screens (D'antoni's specialty). I could go on, but if you don't get the idea by this point, it is entirely fruitless to argue this with you.

Honestly I don't think mchale has much of a system other than spreading the floor and not clogging the lanes. They do some high pick and rolls but thats about it. His philosophy is actually pretty sound imo. My only real issue with it is I'm more comfortable with a big 4 inside helping the 5 especially on the boards. That and his substitution patterns which just baffle me to no end in some games. Maybe I was just thrown off by the fact that he actually played the hot hand for once.

Lin is hard to depict, he explodes well but isn't the best ball handler. While hes strong at his right, hes not well at all with his left. Can he score. Of course. Can he rack up steals. Yes! but hes still too faulty at defense and inconsistent without an constant jumper. What kills me the most is when he runs out there and plays with NO GuTs. How could you watch Beverly give his all every night/outplay you at times and still come out playing timid. Mchale can say what he pleases as the coach, Words shouldn't suck the life out of you as a professional NBA player. You learn this stuff in the park when people are criticizing your game. Mchale was simply criticizing his mistakes As A Coach Should so he can become better. The LOF's already pansy and cater to him enough, the only way for lin to get better is to show some tough love. Idk... why some people get riled up to the point where their delusional and find themselves defending everything Lin does. Anyone can explain all the great things a NBA player does before the bad to make him sound as if hes better than he really is. While I hope for him to do well and see some stench of Linsanity sometime this year, its not fair to put him before our other Rockets the way some people do. People love blaming Harden but a lot of times when I see Harden away from lin and lin is on his Island, not only does lin's eyes find harden but he defers to him, even before trying to set something up or before Harden even calls for the ball. You definitely can tell when Harden wants the ball because he'll either bring it up or call for it eventually throughout the set. Times when he doesn't I often see lin with that deer in the headlights look, Lost on his Island, sometimes he drives and scores trying his hardest to get that only right hand layup he has, and other times he makes terrible passes on and off his feet. Throwing the ball at an angle he knows Asik can't catch just because hes gotten himself in trouble. As a point guard you should control the rock and maintain the offense through your dribble. Harden had a problem passing to Asik as well because we all know Asik has bad hands, but as they've become comfortable with each other, harden now sets him up and delivers the sweet bounce pass to Asik's sweet spots. You never see harden leaving his feet or unable to control his dribble as a shooting guard and lin's the team's leading point guard. Not saying cut the cord yet, but something ain't right?

Pretty sum up all my thoughts of the Rockets fandom in this forum ( see this forum and not the whole Houston Rockets fan in general ).

Before they complain that no one is taking notice of the team even though Dragic has been posting up relative numbers as Lin during last Feb stretch ( yeah, I know because I've read the previous thread you have here when Lin was lighting it up in NY )...

And now that Lin is here ( so is his fans ), they complain because all we talk is about Lin..

But...as a new Rockets fan, We can't talk about the team because we are new and can't even name any past Rocket players..We can't criticize Mchale because we are not aware of how he runs the team before...we can't talk about our Superstar because he is our Superstar and just be happy that he is playing with the Rockets now...

So who should we talk about?....
