Since joining the Raptors, Rudy Gay is shooting 37.5% and 26.1% from long range. He isn't all that great. If NBA games were just the last 60 seconds instead of 48 minutes long, he might be a star. But reality is reality. Is it truly surprising the Grizzles have a long winning streak without Rudy Gay? Shouldn't be.
Not surprised. As I said, the Grizz will be better off with Prince. He knows his role, plays great defense still, and still will make big plays being a starter on a championship team.
What is actually in a good spot. Sure he looks stupid about Rudy Gay, but the Grizzlies are on a roll as expected.
Still premature, but it seems like a lot of people owe Hollinger an apology for being an unapologetic Gay basher. Gay for whatever reason is shooting worse and worse as the season goes on. Memphis amazingly enough might've sold Gay at peak value.
It's called being forced into first option while not having the talent. Remember when Ariza was supposed to be our first option? Ariza was shooting 30-something percent like Gay is doing now.
I thought Rudy was going to get some bump from playing with his pal (or "homie" as those of us from the streets would say) Kyle Lowry. Hasn't happened yet.
They have neutered Lowry up there. They don't want him to be too aggressive. It takes other guys like Bargnani out of their rhythm. Stupid Canadiens.
Gay was a volume shooter for all of his Grizz career. And he was even pretty efficient at it, given that the team played half-court basketball. He also never had shooters to spread the floor with the Grizzlies either. You normally don't see this type of downward trend at 27.
LOL 14 games in Toronto is 7-7 with Rudy Gay while absorbing a contract more expensive than LBJ, Kevin Durant, Westbrook and Chandler Parsons (lol) . Memphis is 10-3 with Prince while shaving of 17M off their books. WHAT?!?
DURANTS LEVEL. SERIOUS YOU GUYS. THE GRIZZLIES OFFENSE IS DESIGNED SO THAT HE'S LESS EFFICIENT. TAKE THAT ANALYTICS.
