He's always sarcastic, negative, and b****y. Along with is coaching, he's yapping himself out of his job.
Thought the same thing. Adelman was furious when Morey traded Battier for Thabeet in the middle of a playoffs chase. And we ended up with one of the infamous #14 picks.
I'm not sure why people are surprised. It's like at a company where they're cutting costs, and replacing good, hard working experience employees with fresh college graduates who don't know what they're doing. If you're a manager, why aren't you pissed?
That is the problem I am having with McHale, seems like Morey is forcing his hand and was expecting for Jones to get some playing time. McHale is not playing him in spite.
That's certainly what those who b**** and moan about him constantly are hoping. Unfortunately for them, most of the things they complain about are in their minds.
But the argument isn't that Patterson would help turn this team into a championship contender. It's the playoffs, and hopefully building on that. I guess the problem with Robinson is that he's far from a sure bet to turn into a star level player. Of course Morey has a better idea than most of us about the potential of Robinson. I have a feeling that the kids is just another asset (because of his perceived high ceiling) in Morey's long term scheme. This is why some of us are doubters this time. It's clearly a Moreyball move--increased asset values. And in some ways it's not really necessary because we were already in great position to do big things in the offseason. The short term cost might prove to be too high. Morey is almost like doing it on habit. He saw a good deal. He pounced on it. He just couldn't resist it.
I would agree that trading 3 crappy players for a top 5 drafted rookie is a Morey move, I just don't get why people don't like it. Neither Morris or Patterson played any defense whatsoever and they weren't rebounders....Chemistry will take some time, but the team is more talented now than before the trades.
I find Mchale's lack of faith disturbing. Lord Morey is most displeased with his apparent lack of progress.
Robinson just needs a good offseason with a more decent franchise than Sacramento. I don't have very high hopes for him in this playoff chase though... Patterson was a decent defender too, but there's not much he can do when the team defense sucks all around.
McHale is no more than PF/F/C coach. He can't communicate well. Watch his interview, he was babbling all the time.
Hmmm, Id be surprised if a former GM had issues with the improvements Morey has made.. whether short or long term, the moves are helping the franchise regardless. Maybe this just shows how ahead Morey is vs other GMs.. even they don't understand
Lowry is easily replaceable. Toronto fans aren't even that happy with him. Calderon took his place in the lineup most of the season. And he's underperforming on a team where, before the Gay trade the offense was made for him to succeed - he had the ball in his hands more than any other player. Early in his career Lowry was underrated, now he's overrated. He's on a losing team in the East. Frankly, I would have kept Calderon, and packaged Lowry to more easily move Bargnani.
And he's forcing McHale to play Francisco Garcia by adding Brooks. It's basically a giant chess game between McHale and Morey, as it is with 100% of GMs and coaches across all sports.
Maybe in the end, morey needs to coach the team. Pop did it when he fired hill. Isaih did it tooo. He didn't have any gm experience when he took over there. Sometimes people just have to see for themselves how difficult it is to manage personalities.
Trading that pick for Lowry was dumb, but he's been pretty solid. Shooting 40% from 3pt land too. And he's still on that cheap contract.
the official line out of the front office + chronicle was that dragic simply left on his own over the player option, and then morey immediately turned his attention to lin afterwards. ...of course i'd take your version as being what really happened (perhaps it was mentioned on the board earlier but this is the first time i've read it). anyways, mchale was visibly pissed/upset in interview when dragic was not resigned. so when he now says "You have to ask Daryl", it does make me wonder if it's not just him being his typical sarcastic pointing self, and if there really is uneasiness between those two... do you think it's out of the realm for mchale to part ways with the franchise this summer?
